Giving some Fleetwood Mac and Wet Leg's "Angelica" vibes. Joel leading the verses adds lots of character and Ellie continues to serve them vocals so hard. The vocal harmonies are so ethereal and polished. The instrumentation and production quality continues to shine, on par with their other 2 singles. Very hyped for this album (hoping it to break the 80 AOTY curse) and can't wait to see them live soon!
GOOD MORNING, GOOD LOOKING ‼️THIS IS THE KILLER SPEAKING ‼️ WE'RE SOOOOOOOO BACKKKKKKK ‼️‼️‼️
The long awaited single that they've been playing live for forever is finally out! TLDP's trademark pure fun theatricality truly shines through Abigail's charismatic vocals and the band's banger instrumentation here. If "This Is the Killer Speaking" is representative of their sophomore album, then we're in for a real treat. TLDP continues to ... read more
Listening to this song rn while lying on the sofa. I COULD LIE HERE ALL DAY LONG...... LET ME LIE HERE ON THE SOFA
Ellie's vocals, the melodies, the harmonies, and the instrumentation are so lush and gorgeous. A song about disconnecting from real life and recharging by doing nothing has no business being this good and dreamy. Wolf Alice, take a bow. I really want to buy a ticket to their concert now. No words can describe how hyped I am with their new album, especially considering how much ... read more
Admittedly I was very lukewarm during my first listen but this is now bopping so hard. I have to stand up and dance like Lorde in my room. "I remember saying then, this is the best cigarette of my life, well I want you just like that" hits a bit closer to home. BABY WHAT WAS THAT?

It's been quite a while since a modern rock album made me this excited and thrilled. I can't pinpoint a single reason why I am in love with this record so much. Perhaps it is the love letter to rock music and the celebration of rockers who passed away in "Rock and Roll Heaven". Perhaps it is the 1960s-inspired tender somberness of "Got So High". Perhaps it is the powerful anthem of reclaiming a chaotic world accompanied by Tom ... read more
Ok Grammys you guys have one job. Miley pours so much of her soul into the vocal delivery of this song. The production is masterfully tasteful, from the smooth bass and saxophone in the R&B ballad parts to the explosive distorted instrumental sounds and vocals in the chorus and the crescendo at the end. EAT MY HEART! BREAK MY SOUL! TAKE MY PARTS! LET ME GO! There’s something beautiful about the way Miley conveys her deep desires here. Perhaps it’s a passionate desire to connect ... read more
Ellie absolutely slayed. And cooked. And served. And ate. And absolutely left no crumbs
May is perhaps the strongest songwriter in BC,NR... words can't quite describe how much I adore her mystical, folklore-inspired storytelling, like in "The Boys" and "Turbines/Pigs." I literally shed so many tears when I heard "Turbines/Pigs" live in 2022. And now, she continues to cook up yet another masterpiece with "For The Cold Country". It's such a rewarding experience to embark on a slow-burn journey with May's stripped-down vocals and ... read more
I'm so in love with María's gorgeous vocals. So in love with the band's dreamy and hazy soundscape. So blessed to have 2 more songs to cure my post-Submarine hangover. Always feel like I'm drowning and intoxicated with anything this band plays. PLEASE GIVE ME MORE
Absolutely devastating track, emotional songwriting and beautiful delivery from Lucy. Each line is so gut-punching. The hazy guitar and soul-crushing drumming paint such a dark mental space of a deteriorating relationship, especially during the bridge. Easily the most impactful track from Lucy's new album for me.
Really loving the groovy dance punk direction here, would love to see them expand on this sound in the new album! Reminds me a bit of Viagra Boys but still has that trademark snarky Wet Leg fun… WE’RE SO BACK!!!
Edit: just listened to a couple of their new songs played live in NYC on YouTube... OMG love the more melodic, more danceable, punkier sounds they're exploring here, so excited for the new album!
What a mesmerizing tune... Sharon sounds so transcendental and the synths are so so good and dreamy. That "Will you feel like coming home? Does it feel like coming home?" part is quite heavenly and emotional, especially when I've been playing this a lot around holiday season. The refrain "Will I see you in the afterlife?" / "Will you see me in the afterlife?" feels very warm and moving. I love the way the lyrics flow so fluidly and conversationally. ... read more
Look who's back, what a great surprise!!! Phenomenal instrumental and production quality, especially the hypnotic synths and the hazy guitar towards the end. I really love the industrial, gothic, and grungy vibes here. Sky sounds absolutely fantastic - her vocals really soar during the chorus and add much gravity to the bridge. The hook is wickedly addictive, will have this on repeat this month for sure :) (also, the new album is finally coming out next year frfr?)
Didn’t think Jade could release another song as good as Angel of My Dreams this year but she proved me wrong and slayed so hard… Fantasy is such an earworm, absolute pop perfection. I’ve been replaying this so many times since it came out. Jade is a true pop diva with this one and her vocals sound so glamorous from start to finish, especially the last minute OMG!!! The disco production is phenomenal, the guitar is so on point, and the tune is so infectious that it makes me ... read more
My appreciation for this song has only grown over time. I've moved across the globe and cross-country twice in the past 6 years. I'm incredibly grateful that I've seen so much of this world, met so many people from diverse backgrounds, and experienced so many things I could have never dreamed of, but there's something bittersweet about all the rapid changes that have consumed my life in recent years. Change has become a constancy of life - people come and people go, pieces ... read more
Not many songs can convey the feelings of emotional detachment and alienation as beautifully as Duvet. Jasmine's vocal delivery is so haunting and vulnerable, yet seemingly distant. That guitar tone after the second chorus fits the song so perfectly. The instrumental soundscape is dreamy and ethereal - everything feels spacious, disoriented, isolated, and blurry. Duvet is truly a timeless tune, just as much as how Serial Experiments Lain only becomes increasingly relevant many decades ... read more
After listening to Sharon's new single "Afterlife" (which is phenomenal, but I will defer my review to another day!), I couldn't help but revisit "Seventeen." I have very fond memory of this song because I was literally 17 when I first heard this song in 2019. The past 5 years have been unimaginable. I have accomplished way more things than I could have ever dreamed of. But my 17-year-old self was in such a different world and mental state that he could never have ... read more
Phenomenal singles in a phenomenal album filled with phenomenal tracks made by a phenomenal band… yeah I run out of adjectives for this masterpiece of a record. Especially No Reason is still my top favorite out of Dragon New Warm Mountain 2 years after. The cozy melody, the warm chorus and the beautiful flute section constantly bring me back to No Reason every time I need an assuring pat in the back. A truly timeless and moving tune <3
Pure magic... for 4 minutes and 18 seconds, the world is not falling apart... everything is alright... truly momentary bliss.
The bridge is that one moment of clarity, of enlightenment amidst all of the fantastical perfect dream I found myself slowly drowning into after every synth loop.
"Can't keep hanging on to what is dead and gone. If you built yourself a myth, you'd know just what to give. Materialize or let the ashes fly". FUCKING POETRY.

Heaven was my #6 in my 2023 year-end list and I can confidently say it's still one of my top favorites from last year. The strings are so beautiful and Mitski's vocals really touch my soul. The outro always ascends me to heaven. It's so warm, so cozy, so comfy, like I felt embraced by so much tenderness and affection during one of my most stressful periods of my life when this came out. A few months ago, I wrote "I've felt so indifferent to romantic love for years and ... read more
