The thing that was making Harry Styles albums decent or good for me was the inclusion of at least two really good ballad/slow songs. Missing them in this album made me realise how average the rest of the songs are.
There are some nice elements but does not feel authentic as his old work. It is definitely not bad and actually has one or two good songs but definitely fails to impress me as a whole album.
Such an insane run of the first four songs. It loses the momentum afterwards and gets repetitive at times for me. Overall vibes are so soothing and beautiful. Some of the instrumentals go so hard in the best way possible. She is so heavenly.
Her voice changed a lot omg. This is a nice entrance to her simple but nice to listen style. It has it’s gems.
He just casually crashed my emotions while giving me the most beautiful melodies. I was just in a lot of confusion about if I should be amazed or crying. His music is just straight up sad af and I love him for that. The instrumentals had me ascending. Lyrics are gorgeous. I was never really that sure what he was saying but every sentence of it just hits. Also probably my all time favourite cover, it is just perfection. Such a deep and beautiful piece from him.
Oh Lover… the album you could’ve been if you were 6 song shorter.
How fun but deep down such an anxious album. It is so bittersweet to look back on this album knowing how it ends. So many good and fun songs kinda ruined by how long the album is with some unnecessary songs. Love the cover.
This being her debut is insane work. After being obsessed with Vespertine, I decided to do a deep dive on her and I did not expect her to already have her unique experimental style from her first album. It sounds so nostalgic and carries 90s vibes yet the originality of it prevents from sounding outdated in anyway. I am expecting her to be one of my favourite artists with this run.
Also as someone who listens a lot albums with her husband, Bjork is one of the only artist that writes about ... read more
This is the actual lover album. You were just supposed to be there when it happened. The icon itself. I do have to agree with my husband’s take that the sound is outdated, but I am still enjoying too much to care about it. Her vocals and adlibs are so good. It is camp idc. New year’s day is too painful.
She showcases a beautiful lyrical album. There are some songs like “satellite”, “the hand” and “everyone likes to be forgiven” that are deeply moving. She has so much potential and a raw voice that is full of emotions.
The biggest problem I have with this whole album is the production. It does feel pretty amateurish. Sounds even off at some points. Her voice is not mixed well enough to the instrumentals for me, which definitely effects the album experience ... read more
One of the albums that actually makes me feel like I am on drugs. It is so dreamy that you lose yourself in the flow, I was having hard time trying to catch any part of the songs or any thought really, which can be overwhelming at times. But when you actually catch what is happening, it is just beautiful. It gives the best experience when you let it go and just listen it without putting to much thought on it. Insanely creative work.
Created my understanding of pop music. Iconic af. Nostalgic, fun and full of life. She ate big time with this one.
I’ve never felt more intimate with an album. She performs sexuality, love and desire in the most fragile and deep version of it. I really felt this one really deep inside. Very much made me think and feel as I was listening.
If the ideal heaven exists, this album sounds like what it feels like to be there. It is so ethereal, so complex yet raw. Nothing sounds like this. One of the best albums ever.
Loving that she is getting her flowers, she is an amazing performer and person.
This album is fun and enjoyable but falls a bit flat and not a lot happening for me.
It was a rollercoaster. It has such intense and beautiful moments but then sometimes that intensity feels overwhelming. The ones that hit right were just so good and I am sure the others will become more clear as the time goes. I was so “on board” with the water concept. He plays with it so effectively. Lowkey lived.
I was instantly in love with the song Euro-country from the first listen. The amazing song-writing keeps on going for the rest of the album. Can not say the same for how much I enjoyed the rest though. Lowkey wanted her to go even more country, the country songs definitely shine more in the album. There are definitely songs that I can not get it right at the moment. But nevertheless a good album. Irish diva!!
Having Parachute as the introduction to the album definitely sets some expectations that it’s hard to reach and it definitely affected my experience in a way that is not so pleasant. A lot of songs left me asking for more. I guess I just expected her to go bigger. But I am learning to appreciate the album since it is still very well made. It has an interesting pool of lyrics where I am confused what to think of it, but regardless impressive and quite direct. It has a nice listening ... read more
This perfectly captures how casual she is about destroying us. She just does it so effortlessly. She is the personification of devastation. The simple production, with absolutely offensive lyrics just cuts so deep and all of them hurts so good.
Every day I think about where and how is she. I need her back so bad.
I have so many memories listening to this album and textile workshop together. Not the happiest memories but still helped the album to have a nostalgic place in me.
While having couple of misses for me, it also has so many bangers that I find insanely underrated like “Metallic stallion” and “everybody knows I’m sad”. The whole album still manages to give a good time. You should sometimes let a girl be silly. She gets serious when it’s the right song ... read more
