pretty good listen.
the middle does drag a little compared to the albums great beginning and end, but still good stuff
this album features alot of good ideas, but unfortunatly that's where most of the songs end. most of the tracks feel way too underbaked, especially with the criminally short song lenghts.
this album frustrates me so much.
because there are alot of songs here that truly proof J.Cole still deserves to be in the conversation. but at the same time there are also quite a few songs that really drag this album down for me.
maybe it's the lenght of the songs and the album itself that make this kind off a difficult listen for me, but still if he had just cut some of the fat of this album it maybe could've been considered an instant classic.
devastating album.
it can be kinda hard to listen to at some points both because of the subject matter, and some of the insane production
alot more focused album than Forward, that album very much seemed like Jordan was still trying to figure his sound out, while this album is more focused on his writing, which has improved quite a bit.
I also think I slightly prefer the more chill production of this album compared to Forward's more fun vibes, even if it doesn't have a song as good as Famjam4000 (even if I really wasn't expecting that since that song is just such a bop)
it is absolutly worth all the hype. Prince and the Revolutions practically created a new kind of pop. a kind of pop that could be more raunchy, more explicit and alot louder.
beautiful record that showcases Marvin Gaye's passion and care for the world
decent mixtape. I walk away from it seeing alot of potential for her.
don't get it twisted, this is only her beginning
incredibly funky. he has a very commanding voice, it always immediately grabs my attention
I do prefer this over Characters, it has alot more songs I go back to than that one, but it still has alot of the same issues. also it's definitly too long
posibly his most uninspired album. most of the songs here do not match up with his usual quality at all
very introductury record for him. you can tell he still needed to figure out what kind of style worked for him and you can sometimes kinda tell on this album. but overall it's still a solid listen
huge improvement from Bastard and Goblin. production is great, his performances are pretty good, the features are great.
the only thing I think he needed to lock in on more is the songwriting. other than that its good!
alot of very good songs, and some songs that make me feel uncomfortable
kinda forgettable and boring honestly. very dissapointing coming from them
the production here kicks ass, but I also really like the singing, it's quite good
interesting that they went for a more rock aesthetic compared to their usual disco funk sound, but I do still like it
really nice, smooth and groovy vibes. on some tracks his voice can get drowned out by the production a bit, but other than that it's pretty damn good
I love R&B and Soul music, they are some of my favorite genre's, but this wasn't super interesting to me.
decent production, alright vocals, and some crazy ass lyrics (Horoscope is hilarious).
