Almost made it to the end without a Charlie Kirk bar.
This album, contrary to the earlier singles, was for sure experimental, and it did end up sounding pretty different from his last album for the most part. It ends up leaning into a more EDM type of sound, especially in the first half, with the latter half being more melodic and, if anything, more similar to ILDMLFY, but it still manages to have a different enough feel. It does remind me most of Black Ben Carson, of all his projects, also ... read more
Pretty good, I like how it sounds a little different from ILDMLFY this time. The epic outro was cool, but I feel like it could have developed into something amazing if the track were a little longer.
THE GHOST~POP TAPE is an album that I originally put off listening to for quite a while. I had heard the Call Me Maybe cover and thought it was absolutely beautiful, but I wasn't sure how much I would like an entire album's worth of that same stripped back sound. Eventually, about a year ago, I became too intrigued by what others were saying about the album and decided to listen to it out of the blue, alone in the middle of the night. By the end, I was on the verge of literal tears, ... read more
This was the one Devon Hendryx project that I hadn't gotten around to until more recently, and a lot of it lives up to what I expected. It's not his best project, but it's far from his worst. It does feel like the lyrics are a little more tolerable than what he was doing on JOECHILLWORLD, and it definitely makes it more enjoyable. This album is not without its own problems though, its main one being consistency.
It starts off with a grand intro on ジェネレーションY, ... read more
This is definitely Peggy’s best full rap project from his Devon Hendryx era. It contains some of the biggest highlights from his early discography, such as Neon Kitchen I and II, as well as Montebello High School Prom, which are simply masterclasses in cloud rap.
The project overall feels more cohesive as a whole than anything he has put out up to this point. It even has some seamless transitions between songs, like the one from Neon Kitchen II into Operation: Kill Stormfront. Every song ... read more
Peggy has definitely come a long way from here.
This is Peggy's only project that I can easily say I dislike. GENERATION Y a very weird album. It's easy to see that he was already developing his experimental sound, but in my opinion, a lot of the ideas either don't work very well or aren't fleshed out enough to a point where they could work. You can also tell that he didn't quite have an ear for mixing yet. This is especially apparent in the vocals, which are often ... read more
Even though this project is simple at its core, it's clear from the start that Peggy had an instinct for figuring out what works well together. There is something so intoxicating about the atmosphere of this album that I can't explain, something that no other project has made me feel. I have listened to this album more times than I can count, and it still gets better and better with each one. This is easily one of my favorite albums of all time.
Not amazing, but pretty good I guess. There is a lot of blatant stealing/ripping off existing music. For example, Pluto's Last Comet is literally just Into the Groove by Madonna and Never Gonna Give You Up, Last Kiss of Nebulon is just Easy Lover by Philip Bailey, and Enchanted Waterfall was removed from streaming for being a rewrite of Careless Whisper. There's also some filler on the front and back ends, and way too much high end on Tory's vocals and some other mixing issues at ... read more
