Definitely better than their last effort on RUSHMERE! These songs feel much more reserved and raw than even their early records, partially due to Aaron Dessner’s flawless production. Mumford and sons was the soundtrack of my middle school experience so it’s so fun to hear their sound mature alongside me.
This is probably the most important album in the history of indie music and my favorite record of all time.
The album is so layered musically, lyrically, and production-wise that I still haven’t uncovered all of the mysteries lurking below the surface after countless listens. This was my introduction to De la Soul and I liked it much more than I thought I would! Very chill compared to other hardcore rappers of the same era
Some funky, some sweet, this album has it all but is a bit inconsistent
“Father’s Son” is the only real standout. But man, is it a banger
I LOVED this album!!!! So sad and wistful! This stands out against Bartees’ much more produced records but I kinda like this more! It feels real. “Little Brother” almost made me cry
