Untitled Unmastered was actually a rlly pleasant listen. It didn’t have all that many standout moments, but unlike Section.80 and Overly Dedicated I thought as a project it was very memorable and necessary in Kendrick’s discog. Also there were some rlly good standout tracks from it - 08, 02, 03. There wasn’t a song I disliked. I’ve given it just below Good Kid because Good Kid had more substance, but this project was rlly good and Kendrick’s flow was great. Very ... read more
TPAP is a huge step up from Kendrick’s previous works and having listened I can say I understand the hype and praise surrounding this album. Being an avid mainstream pop enjoyer, the look of an 1hr 15min rap album was a bit daunting, and with all the praise I had high expectations already, but in the end it basically met those expectations. I wouldn’t say it exceeded them though. It is a great rap album, but I’d still say I gravitate towards pop, and as a result it did lose me ... read more
Soty, and I doubt anything will pass it. After getting a lot of hate for her role in the Little Mermaid, Halle used this song as a comeback into mainstream music, and she could not have picked a better song to have returned with. It’s perfect, its powerful, it’s heaven-sent. I love the escapism that other 2023 releases provide like Higher Than Heaven (Ellie Goulding), but there is something so deeply genuine and utterly touching about this track, in the lyrics and production builds ... read more
Section.80 is certainly a step up from Overly Dedicated. I found this project quite enjoyable to listen to from start to finish and liked Kendrick’s flow on a lot of his tracks. The production was fitting but nothing outstanding. Again, having already listened to some of his newer stuff, I know Kendrick can do better and this album suffers similar to Overly Dedicated in that it is fairly forgettable within his discography. At least this album has its redeeming features, like the constant ... read more
Kendrick's first album isn't bad by any means, but it doesn't really stand out among other albums of it's genre either. Having listened to a few of his newer records before this, I am aware I've gone in bias, but in comparison it just doesn't have much going for it. It's just quite mid and forgettable. It has got redeeming songs like P&P 1.5, Alien Girl and Michael Jordan, but on the whole I found myself not being able to remember many of the tracks after having just listened to them. If I ... read more
