Finally a Myrath record that leans more toward their middle eastern influences and feels cohesive!
I never really cared about their last 2 records, which are the ones that introduced me to them. So my expectations were relatively low. Then i was dearly suprised when i actually enjoyed this record! The songs create a fitting middle eastern atmosphere, have hooky chorusses and the vibe of the record is uplifting. Sadly, many songs arent standing out as much, so the middle part of the record is ... read more
I dont think its really bad. The music on display is extremely generic, but alright. Nothing spectacular. The bit that drops it below average is how much of a cringelord the dude is on social media. I literally cant stand it. Its this tough boy crap projected into modern metalcore. Really terrible.
In short, if you like the music, all the power to ya. If you like the person... please think about your preferences in people.
Where do i even begin?
I always enjoyed FRONZ's style of rapid fire spitted vocals, so a certain softspot for Attila's music existed in my listening habit. But they always had the cringe edge, and sadly it just got worse and worse over time. This record is the first full record ive listened to by them for a while, and i got a good laugh out of it.
The songs reach from fine at best, to laughably bad. The instrumentals are generic modern deathcore, so are most of the vocals (apart from ... read more
Moodring are back. And Hunter Young unleashes his sexualized version of internal suffering in audible form. This is a concept record, about himself and the thoughts of death. Musically it sits comfortably between Nu-Metal legends like Korn, Metalocre giants like Motionless in White and their last record "Stargazer". This record swaps seamlessly from heavy to soothing and back within seconds. The record can lull you in, and crush all your dreams within seconds.
The records can be seen ... read more
What happened here?
Defying Decay were a small Metalcore act, that had a rough sound consisting off 2000s Metalcore combined with EDM and Dubstep drops. It was very interesting. In my experience, which is their 2017 record "Metamorphosis", they did what they did quite well. But this feels to tryhard to get into the spotlight. The Cover Art feels like a thing Darko US would do. The Instrumental feels very reminiscent of modern Architects, the song structures feel extremely generic. The ... read more
Certainly is one of the deathcore records of all time. But "Decay" was kinda fun, cause it felt like something Humanities Last Breath would do. Overall, its still a "nah im good".
What do you get if you create a wild story, make it into music form and add a ton of style and jazz in there? Welcome to "Sunya" by The Dear Hunter. Its a difficult record to get into, but the moment the vibe latches unto you, its not letting go until the record decides to throw out a curveball. Its Art Rock and Progressive Rock combined so closely with Jazz and Jazz Fusion, that it could even be called a new genre. Sadly, it does loose itself sometimes in its swirling sounds and is ... read more
Mallavora, a new Alt Metal group, unleash their debut record unto the scene. It shows alot of promise. The sound lays somewhere in between Unleash The Archers and Jinjer and sits there very comfortably. Good riffs, smooth drums and atmosphere and the big standout, the vocals. Sadly, not many standout moments in the way of songs, making especially the second half a slump of simlar sounding tracks. Also, incredible Cover Art. Rarely seen one that fits the title, vibe & lyrics better than this ... read more
Very well done Metallic Hardcore, but here i am, feeling like the music misses me. The riffs hit hard, the melodic moments work well and even the lyrics are good. But it just doesnt move me much. Still waiting on the Metallic Hardcore & Powerviolence record that changes my perspective on these genres.
If you love this genre though, its one of the best of the year so far!
Don Broco give us their new record. I got really hyped for it, after ive heard the title track with Chad Krueger, and i really liked their lst record, so i had some hopes for this to be good. And i was correct, it is good. But not outstandingly so. The record lays somewhere in the Alternative Metal area and it stays there for most of this record. The Nu Metal influences dont come out as much as id hoped them to. The Standout tracks here are both features. Both make the songs really pop.

This is the best AB record, hands down. "Fable Of The Silent Son" is a masterpiece!
Just recently discovered this, and it wont leave my rotation. This is modern metalcore perfected to the last bit. If only the production was slightly more on par with things like FFAA etc, then id gladly give this a 100!
One of the most challenging records to listen to ever, but man is it rewarding...
Im in the minority, who preferrs this over the heavy architects
This record created a conflict for me. The general dark vibe, the atmospheric sounds combined with typical black metal production and drumming made for a record i should really enjoy. But somehow, it turned me off alot. Nothing here felt catchy or worthwhile my time. It feels painfully middle of the road for me. Sorry!
This was a well made record.
The riffs feel nostalgic to oldschool Metalcore, the vocals are very raw reminding me of Hardcore. The clean vocals remind me alot of post-hardcore, which gives this record a great contour. Sadly, many songs arent that special when not given full attention, so they muddle in with the rest. Still overall a very enjoyable listen!
