Was not expecting the amount of hate on this album. it's not perfect, but it's a dumb fun time. While there is an actual attempt to try new flows, but she ends up defaulting the same ones after a while. There is a surprising amount of beat variety on here; BB Belt is wayyyy more sinister sounding than anything I would expect her to do.
At the end of the day, it's a bunch of "I'm better than you" bars and "watch out for your man" bars. Would love to hear ... read more
I remember when this came out when Artery and rise records was still pumping up dime a dozen metalcore records, and this was so FRESH. It was a super rare instance where a band totally switches up their style and it was unanimously well received by existing fans; we knew it was something special.
Incredibly underrated record, and for my money, kicked started the whole nu-metalcore that would make bands like Code Orange and Vein as popular as they are. It's a shame this record came out ... read more
not enough reverb hue hue hue but seriously this album was a gamechanger, and still rips to this day. Crossbreaker and Drown might be some of the catchiest songs I've ever heard across all genres
Can’t remember anything see other than the singles…pretty disappointing after the absolute hook-fest from their last album
love the continuation of electronic and industrial elements in their music, while still writing savage riffs (and yes, they always know when to slow them jawns down). I do think the back half of the record gets weaker, and while I appreciate the sounds on cuts like dancing to the infinite beat and Hypercore, I wish they were more cohesive with the rest of the album
After years and years of listening to progressively heavier, faster, and more abrasive music, it becomes harder and harder to get that next fix. it's always an amazing feeling to be knocked down to your knees by something so disgusting and raw and intense. This though. This is one of those few records that reminded me that there's always going to be something that pushes the envelope and can absolutely ruin you and leave you breathless
yaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaas
a true hardcore punk in the sense of its namesake, no metallic influences here. pretty well performed hc with some great hooks. gets kind of samey toward the end, aside from album highlight howard beale. still a fun listen!
What an incredible and prime example of using autotune and pitch shifting to create a unique voice. Alex continues to make use of larger production resources to bring his weirdness to larger-than-life melodies and soundscapes
there' s a lot of influences on these guys sleeves, particularly TBS and silent majority, but at this point in the guys career there was still enough hardcore influences, raw production, and catchy songwriting to make this a standout
tearin the fabric of these sheetz after knockin my loose all night long
never knew depression and self-loathing could be such a vibe
