Trippie Redd - MANSION MUSIK
80

Yes the album is long, yes Krazy Train sounds overall unfinished, but one thing you have to commend is the artistic variety between his projects. His last 3 albums have been: A Travis Barker assisted rock album, a hyperpop rage beat album, and now a black air forces type album. I’m assuming that’s why the album is so long and full of features, he’s probably been saving up collab verses for a good minute. The songs also go hard asf. Idk what y’all talking about Trippie ... read more

Future - Future Hndrxx Presents: The WIZRD

You’re supposed to listen to it while on drugs. That’s like the whole point. So if you didn’t like it, that’s probably why

SoFaygo - Pink Heartz
40

Very disappointing. I had high hopes for this album and was actually hyped to listen. He can’t decide if he wants to lean more into the Uzi or Travis style so he comes off as an extremely watered down mix of the two. He can just never seem to find his footing, as the entire album sounds like filler. Even Uzi doesn’t seem to care. For a much better version of what this guy does, go listen to DC the Don

Side note: How tf you signed to Travis and still can’t get a Travis feature ... read more

DJ Khaled - GOD DID
70

This album honestly surprised me. The whole first half of the album was actually pretty good, and then there’s a few decent songs in the back half. Could it have been better? For sure. But it’s been so long since Khaled has put out a decent album that I’m gonna say this is a W for him. A step in the right direction for sure.

Post Malone - Twelve Carat Toothache

It took me a bit to figure out why this album just doesn’t work, and then it hit me:

There is zero rapping here

Yes, this is an album of entirely pop songs, all sung by posty. There are no hip hop beats, no rapping, and no trace of his original style. And as much as I hate to be someone who complains that “the artist’s music has changed so much”, this is his first real miss in his career. Dude has been nonstop on fire since he entered the music industry, making hit ... read more

Stunna 4 Vegas - Rae Rae's Son

Bro fell off so hard he can’t even get Dababy on his sh*t anymore lol

Lil Gnar - DIE BOUT IT

Gnar is a guy I found recently, and I’ve really liked what I’ve heard. Im a big fan of the Trippie/Carti type beats, so I really like this album. His rapping is solid as well. A lot of these collab songs are from a year or two ago, and there is a noticeable difference in his rapping between then and now. He’s showing a lot of improvement, and the list of big-name features he was able to get is also pretty impressive. Definitely a guy who has a bright future in rap.

TyFontaine - Beautiful Michi Girls
75

It starts off kinda weak but it gets better as it goes on. The first three are skips. From Staycay to Scary hours are good songs. From Streets to Temporary Bliss are great songs. Then the B4 songs are pretty good.

Overall, I would say this is a solid album. Its not quite as good as Ascension, the slow start keeps it from being on the same level, but it is right underneath, and it’s a good album with some great songs nonetheless.

Juicy J & Wiz Khalifa - Stoner's Night
45

For an album called “Stoner’s Night” it’s a pretty boring high listen ngl

Every song sounds the same too, They’re all:
Juicy j hook, Juicy J verse, Juicy J hook, Wiz verse, Juciy J hook, end. Zero variety

Cole Swindell - Stereotype
45

I’ve normally been a fan of his, but even I have to admit this is probably his worst album

That’s not to say it’s terrible, or even bad, It’s just so forgettable. There is nothing original here. Every single song is so generic I feel like I’ve already heard them a thousand times (I might’ve actually heard Single Saturday Night a thousand times considering how much it’s been on the radio). Another thing the album lacks is heart. Cole doesn’t sound ... read more

Thomas Rhett - Where We Started
80

The purpose of this album (as well as many others that will inevitably drop in the next few months) is to be the soundtrack to your summer. Vacation trips to the beach, late night bonfires with your buddies, or just cruising down the road on a nice day with the radio up. That’s what these songs are for. Just like Dustin Lynch’s album I reviewed a couple months ago, they aren’t claiming to be anything more than some upbeat and catchy songs to turn up to this summer.

DaBaby & YoungBoy Never Broke Again - BETTER THAN YOU
45

I’m convinced that literally anyone can ask YB to do a collab album, and he’ll just send a bunch of songs no questions asked.

There is a catch to this however. I’ve kind of caught on to how Youngboy’s music making process goes. He’s just always making tons of songs. The decent ones are collected and made into his solo drops, and the ones that aren’t good enough for those are thrown together and sent to anyone who wants to make a collab album. This is why ... read more

YoungBoy Never Broke Again - The Last Slimeto
65

I could’ve sworn he said he was taking a break.

This man has now dropped 4 projects in the last 4 months. This would be an absurd statistic for anyone but youngboy, but it’s just something we’ve come to expect from him. After dropping 5 albums in 2020, he eased up a little in 2021 by “only” dropping 2 projects. The fact that 2 albums is considered a down year for Youngboy is crazy. He’s already dropped 3 projects this year and we’re barely 4 months in. ... read more

DC THE DON - My Own Worst Enemy
93

Holy shit this was worth the wait.

Even though the buildup of this album took forever, it never ceased to amaze me how much he was improving. He dropped a lot of singles, and each one was noticeably better than the last. That holds true for this album, as I think most of these new songs are even better than the singles he dropped. His melodies and backing vocals are absolutely insane here. Songs like PSA and I want you specifically will take you to another world.

The album is split up into ... read more

Dustin Lynch - Blue In The Sky
80

FULL REVIEW:

Dustin Lynch has always been a guy who just makes whatever type of country music is popular at the time. His first release was heavily reminiscent of the 2000’s era country. His 2014 release Where Its At was a straight bro country album. His 2017 release Current Mood acknowledged his shifts by featuring a wide variety of styles. And his 2020 release Tullahoma was a straight pop-country project.

That brings us to 2022 ‘s Blue in the Sky. This is an album of ... read more

BlocBoy JB - Bacc 2 Da Bloc

When SpottemGottem is the best part of your album, you know you messed up somewhere…

This only adds to my theory that BlocBoy has not recorded a single song since 2018, because everything he’s released the last few years sounds like songs that weren’t good enough to release back when he was poppin off.

Seriously though, what happened to this guy? He was never a gifted lyricist or anything, but he at least knew how to put together a banger. Now he can’t even do that. ... read more

Gucci Mane - So Icy Christmas
75

Only listened to the Gucci parts but this is definately the best project he’s put out in awhile. He’s been on auto pilot the last few years with the So Icey albums, but it feels like the old Gucci is slowly returning here. Maybe it’s just because he always goes hard with his Christmas songs idk, but here’s to hoping he keeps this up.

Culture Jam - Kawhi Leonard Presents: Culture Jam (Vol. 1)
NR

The a boogie song is a bop, the rest is pretty mid

Michael Ray - Higher Education
87

I’ll be honest, this album surprised me. I remembered Michael Ray from the couple radio songs he had several years ago, and because of that I was expecting this to be a generic pop country album.

Ray actually shows a surprising amount of range and maturity in this album, and there’s a lot of variety in the seven songs we get. None of the styles fall flat either. There’s something for everyone here, so give it a listen.

Lil Tecca - We Love You Tecca 2 (Deluxe)
50

This is becoming a regular thing for rappers. Releasing a pretty good album, and then following it up a week later with a mid ass deluxe of a few songs that were pretty obviously just cut for time from the regular album. For other recent examples of this, see: Migos and The Kid LAROI.

I’ll be honest tho, a couple of these songs are actually not bad here
