The core songwriting, production, all that shit is good, but the lyrical themes are kinda cringe. I can’t be invested in this villain/bad guy narrative. There’s a reason why reputation was your least popular record.
Kinda mixed on the bonuses, clearly on the underdeveloped side. Really liked hooligans and no sense, really didn’t like the freestyle or the Uzi track, killstreaks was pretty good. Keem’s willingness and ability to hop on the wildest beats remains to be his strongest asset, bro will rap on anything
I used to think this song was really shit, but it’s kinda cool now to see Rihanna and Ye do a folk track. Don’t think people at the time addressed how wild that was
Nothing more capitalist than artists dropping the worst songs of their career to cash in a check from the minions
Doin a little Kendrick marathon in prep for Mr. Morale and this is my first time hearing the record. I noticed Apple Music version is different from the original track list, are the changes that drastic? Regardless, I like this one a lot, though I get why people might not. It’s a very lowkey record, there aren’t a lot of “bangers” or flashy tracks, but Kendrick has a lot of introspection for someone this young. I can definitely see his jazz side start to blossom on this ... read more
Out of all of her big singles, this is the simplest. It’s not concerned with flashy vocal performances, anthemic instrumentals, or heart wrenching emotion. When I first heard the song I was a little underwhelmed and though the song was a little generic and maybe even a bit boring. But all great music must outlast it’s novelty, and previous Adele songs seem more trite after their big moments go stale. The biggest advantage this song has is that it’s devoid of these moments, and ... read more
a thought: imagine if this entire album campaign was just a commentary on navigating the major label system and the sadistic nature of pop music as a whole ?
Reminds me of What Would Meek Do?, especially with how topical the Ye verse is. I think the best single-word description of the track, at least from Ye's half, is when some dude on Reddit called it unhinged, because that's the only way you can really see these lines come together. Like every other line on the song is some form of wild, outlandish, inappropriate, or straight up out of pocket. The line about the Yeezy boots in the shower killed me when I heard it, and I was shocked when I heard ... read more

8:59 PM (PST): I gear up to listen to a new week of music. I guess I'll listen to Mac Miller. He's okay, and I'm interested to see what he does.
9:01 PM: Oh shit Eminem dropped another album, gotta see how bad this shit is.
It's actually okay; not as bad as Kamikaze, and definitely better than Revival. Of course he's still fighting us on that album, but whatever. The album seems to be actually mixed, and the production is good. Almost every feature dissapoints; I still can't imagine Ed ... read more
