English Teacher - This Could Be Texas
83

Wow! I gave it a quick listen and it's already growing on me. No need to wait, this is one of the best albums of the year!

Pearl Jam - Dark Matter
80

Very good album from PJ. They keep doing what they do best and manage to add some fresh vibes.
I didn't see this one coming after the last few underwhelming attempts.

Clearly the best work in a long time.

The Black Crowes - Happiness Bastards
75

The last album I really listened to from the BC was probably Amorica. I gave a try to most of the albums that came afterwards but it didn’t work out for me. Too southern rock for me I guess.

that being said, this was a surprisingly good listen. Basically, there’s nothing new, still plenty of their southern rock sound but it’s rawer, immediate and straight to the point kind of approach.
C. Robinson still has it in him, great overall performance. R. Robinson reminded me why ... read more

Nadine Shah - Filthy Underneath

An artist puts a lot of energy and time into their creation so i always try to show some respect by giving an album several spins. Sometimes you discover something new each time you hear a song, sometimes it shows the song is rubbish and sometimes you regret losing your precious time...

This album is definitely worth the effort. It rewards you each time you hear it with a new angle or an idea you missed before. It's dreamy, poetic, dark, gracious and i just love Nadine's sens of melodies. ... read more

Metallica - 72 Seasons
80

I listened to it twice and it's really not bad. I'm actually surprised, positively. I have to give it some time to give it my final impression but at this stage would give it an 8/10 easily.

The songs lengths, that seems to bother some, is actually a good point in my case (i'm a Justice fan so...). It's consistent, i like the sound they have, there's a lot of self quoting but they still manage to bring some fresh energy to it.

There's something about this album i can't put my finger on that ... read more

Liam Gallagher - C'MON YOU KNOW
58

It's alright, you know. Not good, but not so bad either... I like the album cover so that's worth something.

Springtime - Springtime
85

TFS, The Drones, Springtime... Gareth Liddiard is omnipresent on my playlists these days. I just discovered Springtime and it's not going to get any better.

Great album. Moody. Cinematic. Perfect soundtrack for a rainy sunday chill session.

Arctic Monkeys - The Car
80

All the critics are praising this album, so it must be good?

Well, i think it is. I'm not big on fancy elevator music orchestrations, which makes this record even worthier as they made it sound cool. I'd take the elevator with this album anytime.

Keep on pushing boys.

Ghost - IMPERA
60

I've never been a Ghost fan even though i saw them live several times over the past years. I know a lot of people who are completely mad about them so i guess it's just about taste...
Nevertheless, a friend of mine (a huge Ghost fan) sends me a message saying i have to listen the last album because it's probably Ghost's best work to date.

Alright. I did. Twice.

I replied to my friend it was the best Europe's album in years. Hands down.

Placebo - Never Let Me Go
72

Overall, a very good effort. As many others, i'm surprised they're still here. I thought Brian Molko finally decided to stop music and be an actor in an obscure european "film d'auteur".
He didn't... and that's good news.

AC/DC - Powerage
100

Being an AC/DC (Bon Scott era) fan since i was little, I'm probably not the most objective critic.
Nevertheless, with Bon Scott, they had much better lyrics and his theatrical interpretations which, in my opinion, are best represented on this album.
The attack of "RnR damnation", the humor of "Down payment blues " or "What's next to the moon", the chilled funky vibe of "Gone shootin" , the brilliant "Riff Raff" riff or the classy "Sin ... read more

Soundgarden - Down on the Upside
90

Obviously, being compared to Badmotorfinger and Superunknown was never going to be easy. Those two albums are among the finest works of the nineties.
But still, this is exactly the situation where I believe the comparison shouldn’t be made. I never did and I t worked for me.
I actually enjoyed it a lot and for a long time. I find there are different vibes and bunch a of great songs such as Pretty noose, No attention, Overfloater, Blow the outside world, Boot Camp, Burden etc.

So, rather ... read more

Stiff Richards - State Of Mind

First great Rock album in 2021! Dance your head off mate!

Run The Jewels - RTJ4
90

These guys brought me back to Hip Hop years ago with RTJ2. Looks like they don't know how to do a bad album... Then again, when you see the political scenery, it's easy to see how they're maintaining their creativity.

Nice one RTJ!

Fontaines D.C. - Dogrel
100

"Dublin in the rain is mine
A pregnant city with a catholic mind"

I'm always impressed by artists who are able to create a personal and unique sound by having a simple approach. Dogrel certainly have it's unique touch.
Well built, a rock album you can actually dance on with those poetic working class lyrics sang with maturity and self confidence.

There are no weak points on this record if you ask me and the Irish accent is "la cerise sur le gâteau" if you see what i ... read more

Rollins Band - The End of Silence
100

I've been listening to this record since it got out. I kept coming back to it and it always felt as an intimate view to my own journal. It still does.
From the majestic bluesy opener "Low self opinion" to the end of the album, Rollins is diving deep inside himself and is confronting some personal issues with honesty and clairvoyance. If you feel down, just put this record on and you'll be ready to fight back.
The blend of bluesy rock with some brilliant jazzy elements presented with a ... read more

Metallica - Hardwired...To Self-Destruct
70

It's the best one since the Black album. Not perfect, but enjoyable. Obviously, being a "And justice" fan, i find it a bit easy listening but it's far from the Load/Reload/St Anger period.

Anyway, it's good to have them back.

White Lies - Ritual
50

One really good song...
