I think this album was good but only that. In the indie genre, there’s so much room to explore with different sounds, textures, and effects, but here it all felt very plain, like the tracks were just put together without much risk-taking. I really wish she had experimented more, both with her soundscapes and with storytelling through her lyrics and production choices. There’s talent here, but it doesn’t push any boundaries.
Madison Beer’s Locket is a massive step forward in her storytelling like, she’s really flexing her narrative muscles here. But honestly, this album feels like just the tip of the iceberg; she’s barely scratched 10% of what she’s truly capable of. I like it a lot, some tracks could improve but in general a well-rounded album.
