JID - God Does Like Ugly
83

Been waiting on this for a WHILE. The Forever Story remains one of my favorite albums ever so I definitely had very high expectations for this one, even though I knew it was unlikely to live up to TFS, and I was right about that. This alvum was really good, and the production was once again very alternative. This had one of the most stacked feature lists of all time, and though the soundscape was impressive, I'm not sure that the subject matter/lyricism lived up to that of past JID albums. ... read more

billy woods - GOLLIWOG
74

I don’t know what the fuck a Golliwog is or what Billy is saying. I think that’s kinda the point, and the album cover matches that. Overall though it wasn’t a super enjoyable listen and though the production started out great it fell off towards the end of it. And Billy didn’t really have any sort of flow he was kinda just yapping.

Freddie Gibbs - Alfredo 2

Holy moly, guacamole. I listened to the first rendition of Alfredo about four days ago., And I really enjoyed it. This one was only a step up the regal, drift, beachy vibes that the alchemist was painting on this album was just incredible. And I think that there is no rapper that can make the alchemist production shine more than Freddie Gibbs because when it comes to Freddie Gibbs, he doesn’t have these super slow flows that you might find out of a Benny the butcher or Larry June or a ... read more

Freddie Gibbs & The Alchemist - Alfredo
83

Thought I’d give this one a listen before Alfredo 2.

I’ve never heard anybody do this well on alchemist production outside of maybe boldy James on certain tracks. And this is some of the best alchemist production I’ve heard. It’s very beachy and Freddie flows so well.

McKinley Dixon - Magic, Alive!

Wow this thing is good and not at all what I was expecting. I kinda got lost in the sauce in terms of the meaning and story of this album but sonically it’s really good. The drums are insane and make this sounds like true hip hop. It also kinda reminds me of the Hamilton soundtrack in the whole cinematic feel of it. The features were really good and the flute was a nice touch. Only gripe is I wasn’t really picking up what was being put down but it’s all good.

Tyler, The Creator - DON'T TAP THE GLASS
84

Wow, this was fire. I was expecting a comeback from chromakopia in terms of better production and soundscape, as I found 90% of chromakopias production to be stale and sounding too much like past Tyler projects, though I was impressed with the introspection of it. Here though, we are introduced to an upbeat and almost liminal soundscape that takes its form in high energy rap tracks and very floaty soulful tracks. This was one of the best vibes Tyler had ever created in an album sonically. As ... read more

JACKBOYS - JACKBOYS 2
57

There are definitely some bangers on here and the tracklist has grown on me. I don't know why people are expecting a legitimate attempt at a great album from Travis with this one. I just expected a collection of bangers and honestly some duds. Tbh this thing was more on the dud side. Dumbo, WWY, and Outside are all pretty good. Sure, it sucks as an album but I'm not mad at Travis for it. That dude definitely needed to shut up on champaign and vacay tho, he actually ruined that track.

Clipse - Let God Sort Em Out

Lowkey was not listening to this attentively as I should have been but I could tell it was fire

Clipse - Hell Hath No Fury

Way ahead of its time

Saba & No I.D. - From the Private Collection of Saba and No I.D.

LETS GOOOOO. This thing was SOOOO good. The uplifting and deep lyrics, the beats, the instrumentals, the features, everything was super, super nice from head to toe. There were 0 misses on this thing, though there weren't a ton of standout tracks compared to his other albums, which was a small gripe for me. However, it was incredibly consistent and his best album to this date.

Alessia Cara - Love & Hyperbole
65

She had some bangers back in the day so lets see what shes up to now.

Ehh this thing was a bore. It started out strong with some really crisp drums but it just got wayyyyyyyyy too repetitive. I kinda stopped paying attention to it because it got so boring

Rebecca Black - SALVATION
57

This thing gets good reviews so lets go.

Charli xcx x grimes if she was annoying. That high pitched voice is just sooo annoying, but the songs without it are pretty good. I really did not love this thing

Mereba - The Breeze Grew A Fire
62

Ive heard her on a lot of dreamville-esque tracks so this has me excited.

I really like her voice and these instrumentals so far. But then, strangely, it started to feel like the lyrics and cadences were somewhat AI-generated. I also got a bit tired of the instrumentals. Still a pretty decent record

The Lumineers - Automatic
59

Another gen x band, lets goooo.

These songs all feel AI-generated with their lyrics and not-unique instrumentals. They were all nice to listen to but really just needed some better lyrics to go with the laid back and common instrumentals

Pink Siifu - BLACK'!ANTIQUE
70

THIS THING IS CRAZY SO FAR. BEATS ARE INSANE. THIS MAY BE ALBUM OF THE YEAR. Nevermind this thing slowed to a stop. Absolutely strayed from its industrial, high energy beginnings. It kinda fell apart with less creative production. Definitely an ok album but let me down a bit

Westside Gunn - 12
78

Lets get straight to it another Griselda album. This was a really, really good mixtape. The beats on a lot of these tracks were incredible. They felt evil and epic and grand.

ANOTR - On A Trip
58

I mean this thing was alright. The vast majority of these tracks weren't that satisfying as house songs, but their summery carribean-esque vibe was still present enough on here. Overall not great but not bad

D. Savage - WE LOVE D. SAVAGE
63

Going on an insane streak to catch up on my list so here we go. I’ve listened to a lot of this guys popular stuff so I’m hyped for this. However I was let down a bit. There were a couple good moments in the beats and hooks but they were too far in between, and the in between wasn’t very enjoyable. Some of the features were good but he sounded like a feature on his own track on some of them. Overall not bad at all, just messed up a lot of good chances it created

Paris Texas - They Left Me with a Gun
77

Just listened to the last one and I really really enjoyed it so I guessed it was time for more. And I am glad I did. This thing had some absolute bangers on it, and though it was very similar to the sword one, it delved deeper into melodic rap rock which was super super nice. Yet another impeccable release. This album gonna be crazyyyy
