First of all I love this album cover
Its great to see Tjay finally returning to form after all he has had to go through in the past few years. There were some absolute bangers and with some better production I think he could burst back into the mainstream. He's doing his thing on almost every track but the beats are just forgettable for the most part. Features really showed up on this one and the vibe was emmaculate.
Wow. Best griselda project I have heard by far outside of Mach-Hommy, though this is close to some of his best work too. Reminds me of an older capital steez. Super aggressive, energetic, production was hard-hitting. This thing did get a little bit boring towards the middle but picked up for sure towards the end. Features weren't great but overall this album was very hard.
Eh. First Smino album (though I have definitely listened to a lot of his music before), and I thought his vocals were still pretty impressive, though the production on these songs were a lot less quality than what I had heard from him. There were some solid tracks but overall a bit boring. Far from a bad album though.
Some lyrics were a little bit too freaky for my liking but there definitely were a few bangers on here. I listened to blackout first which I now am realizing is a bar that is way too high for this album to reach. Production was interesting at times but too inconsistent to keep my attention. Lots of switch up between hype and slow too.
The first track is ever-changing and crazy and looks exactly like the album cover. It's like Middle Eastern house music but has a trippy vibe. Ya Bnayya has much more traditional-sounding instruments and feels a lot faster and more upbeat. I could definitely see Bheem and Raja from RRR dancing to this.
Not gonna review these other songs because my main gripe with the album is that all the songs, aside from the last one, feel and sound extremely similar. This thing got old pretty fast ... read more
Un Monde Noveau and Cristaux liquedes are both chill, more laid back tracks that build up and have very complex instrumentals, while Ecran Total is much more of a "rock" track and changes vocal inflexions but is a track I believe is executed a bit more poorly compared to the first two. The next track reminds me of My Eyes by Travis Scott in the way it starts slow but has a dreamy transition to a very ascension-esque section. Compagnos has some nice maracas and gives off a heavy beach ... read more
Holy Cow. Feels like I am in space and I am not human but an alien. Production was so good and vocals were insane. Best otherworldly vibe I have ever heard generated, super liminal. Incredible.
I have listened to this album multiple times since it released and I am a massive fan. I think Kendrick did on this thing what has made his past albums great - unique production with some bangers and some serious tracks mixed throughout. The firstt three songs are impeccable, hey now and tv off are fire, reincarnated and the heart part 6 are two of his best tracks to this date, gloria is majestic and peekaboo is overhated. The spanish singing with the guitars led this album to a coherent listen ... read more
Really a solid album. Nothing crazy, but here Cordae talks about his experiences being famous and his family. The production was nothing crazy but the features really shined and though there were some corny bars I think this album was great overall.
Nice. Great debut from the artist who has the most potential in the game right now. I loved the spacey, dreamy vibe on this thing and I thought it was excecuted perfectly. This whole album flows together well, and though there aren't any crazy inventive tracks I really enjoyed this thing. Great things will come from detahjae in the future
Really solid beats once again, not super diverse though. Thug does a great job on them as always and makes it interesting with his flow and lyrics. Not much more to say about this one.
Pretty good but not as good as I had hoped from a Tyler album. This thing had the classic Tyler album aspect: a specific soundscape. This soundscape was enjoyable, though it wasn't anything super unique and sounded a lot like Igor. The tracklist lacked the hits that most Tyler albums have which led to it being a bit boring and uneventful, though the specific and apparent themes of certain tracks were fun to listen to, even though some of those tracks made these themes super obvious and ... read more
Doing my re-review (original rating was an 88) before chromakopia drops
I have listened to these songs so many times in the past 3 years that it just feels kinda awkward to review this thing. But whatever. This is definitely another pop-centered album from Tyler but more in the "rap" lane compared to flower boy. I loved the flutes and the soundscape, conducted by DJ Drama, is extremely soothing. This thing has some of the best guest features packed in one album to this day, from 42 ... read more
LETS GOOOOO. I am a huge DC the Don fan and ever since the singles have been desperately waiting for this thing. And finally it's here and is better than anticipated. Overall this album was extremely consistent and varied just enough to keep me entertained throughout the 18-song tracklist. The soundscape was reminiscent of Travis Scott's Utopia, but DC took a different direction toward the end of the album that I enjoyed, though hello world and fly 2 you kindof sounded like disney ... read more
Im a big chino guy and have always been one. This thing was a little bit dissapointing. I was really looking forward to hearing some unique guitar riffs and horns and stuff but they were all far too similar. Chino himself was great on it, and its cool that he got drake on a song, and there are a couple of good tracks, but it wasn't super good for me.
(re-review)
Simple yet so perfectly crafted that it comes off as a complex higher form. I loved this so much and the instrumentals were just perfect. The subject matter was enjoyable and definitely the direction to take with this type of music.
First four tracks are incredible and retro is my favorite childish gambino song of all time. The next three still had the cool tiki beach vibe that the first four had but were super drawn out and not executed well as a whole. Overall this thing was solid and some of the instruments used were super unique and vibey.
Part 5 of Daymondwho recommendations. Have heard about this album for awhile so I am excited, and this feature list looks stacked. Overall this thing was very soothing. There weren't any sounds or anything that stood out too much, and Noname's flow and style was interesting, unique, and nice to the ears. Features did their thing as well.
