there were like 5 decent songs and the rest were horrendous. The features are insane. There's a song with Ski AND Jid. A song with Yachty and Cheif Keef. One with Teezo, Denzel, Cochise, Juicy J AND lil B. You would think those songs would be insane, but there just slightly above average. And it isn't even the artists fault. Those Ski and JID verses were insane. The beats are just terrible.
The disco vibes were elite and untouched and crazy good. Made me wanna hit a massive jig but my parents are asleep so I had to contain myself. Last song was INSANE. Holy moly I want to hit a jig so bad right now. Don't know what to take off from this thing but I just feel like a 94.
Time for a re-review
This thing is still great. It's one of those legendary genre-defining albums that fits perfectly into its own sound and makes little mistakes. This sound specifically, is both dreamy ... read more
First 7 songs were ELITE, no flaws. The next 4 were not as good, but still great. Overall throughout this album the guitarist was going ballistic, and the voice of Stevie Nicks and that other dude blended in perfectly. So floaty, feels like i am running through a prairie while listening. ELITE.
Time to re-review
Every elite album has an aspect of it that no other album in existence does better. This album has it's string loops. They're so satisfying to listen to. Overall, there were ... read more
Not incredible sounds-wise but when you're listening it feels like you're in a movie. There are some really good songs where the floatiness is at its best. Overall not terrible but not super impressive. Some suspicious choices were made that brought it down a bit.
WOW. Much better than I expected it to be. Had a couple standout clangers in DYSBF, Nasty, and Lightspeed. I do think the tracks slowed down a bit as time went on, but they were still pretty solid, just addressed the theme of therapy more. The outro was elite and the tracklist as a whole was really good. Some TJOnline verses were a bit misplaced IMO but that is my only main gripe. Can't wait to see where this group goes next!
Wow. The kendrick influence is heavy. And it's really good. Loved the way some of the tracks referenced themselves, and the story and theme this thing had was incredible. Needs a bit of polishing and a bit more originality, but ICECOLDBISHOP is well on his way to becoming one of the best artists in rap
really solid overall, but not super impressive. Singing parts were better than expected and the features were great. No song really stood out as a complete hit, but all of me is by far the strongest point on this thing.
Yeah this really was not great. I saw the vision he was going for here - a random, interdimensional, and floaty experience. I could hear it. If he had pulled it off, this would be an early frontrunner for album of the year. However, this "randomness" ended up as more messy than unexpected and exciting. Half of the tracks are too messy to even remotely follow, though there are some decent high points in Blue Sky, Rager Boyz, and Wow. Overall a disappointing experience but not as ... read more
My parents listened to this album with me when I was 6 in Spain, and I have been trying to find it for SO LONG! I was so hyped when I finally did, and it sure did not disappoint. Liztomania and 1901 are incredible classics, then those tracks are followed up with an impressive instrumental track in Love Like a Sunset, Pt. 1. The main singer's voice is also incredible the whole way through. After that, it gets a little bit less catchy, though the rest of the album is really solid. Loved it.
Kindof my first time listening to a full rock album, and I really like it a lot. Cage the elephant's lead singer is great, and they really had a motive and drive, or an idea behind every single track, but some were just better executed than others.
WOW WOW WOW WOW WOW. Consistency was incredible throughout this thing, and Pras and Wyclef Jean actually carried their own weight and surpassed that at times. Love how they consistently switched up their style.
re-review time
The consistency on this is insane. A lot of times albums fall off towards the end because they are too repetitive, but this thing is consistently fire and keeps you interested. The instrumentals are both unique and polished, while Lauryn Hill's vocals are ... read more
Instruments were incredible and unexpected. Her flow and voice was perfect, and there were some hits on here as well. Classic.
re-review time
Yeah, I can see why this thing is considered a classic. The instrumentals (for the most part), the flow, the voice, the concept - they're all things that were pushing a new style and musical movement at the time of the album's release. Though I found those aspects impressive for the most part, there were a couple of tracks that weren't as ... read more
her voice and lyrics are nice. the instruments are nice. However everything just feels a bit miscellaneous and without direction. kind of a waste of a great opportunity. It was still nice though.
Jeez what a listen. This album just felt like I was floating around in bright, white clouds with a white robe on. Only gripe I have is that the whole thing kinda just sounded like an interlude, I wish there was a bit more substance in some of these songs.
It is already re-review time
This thing was once again super cloudy. I think the "substance" in these songs were much more apparent on this listen, they sounded much more coherent and focused. There were some absolute bangers on ... read more
kinda just repetitive. some of the songs i have on my playlist and they're really good by themselves. But as a whole, its just too repetitive.
I mean it's a trap album after all. You can't do it much better than offset, due to his consistency over the entire album. Also, we may have gotten 2023's banger with say my grace. It did get a bit repetitive at times but there were a few out of the ordinary bangers that kept me from becoming "bored". It did get a bit worse as the album went on though. Overall great for a trap album solid for a normal album
Really solid. However I do have some things that this album didn't do too well. I felt the organs and choir samples became a bit repetitive across multiple tracks. Many of the songs on this thing felt very unorganized especially on those songs that used choir samples. Scientists and Engineers is an incredible song, but was also very unorganized and unstructured. And I feel like it's possible to pull unorganization off and make it purposeful, that just didn't happen. Some songs were exceptions ... read more
Wasn't expecting much from this album going into it but jeez was this thing GOOD! The souls of mischief embodied mischief on this record and it sure doesn't seem like 20 years since 93 till infinity dropped. The beats were HITTING because of Adrian Younge, and Ali Shaheed Muhammad served as a great host. The best thing is, this album has characters, a story, and even symbols. I didn't know what any of those were or meant, so this album will definitely take a couple more listens. It kind of ... read more
not sure why most people are hatin on this just because its short when it game us some bangers. it also saw him reaching out into a different style in Ya!, Lost in Time, and Mental Magneto, which were all solid songs.
