A$AP Rocky - LONG.LIVE.A$AP
86

all songs above an 8.5. not much of a concept here but its a collection of insane tracks that all have that crisp rocky sound.

re-review time
This thing remains one of the most consistent albums I have ever listened to. Each track brings a brand new, unheard of instrumental that Rocky slides on with witty and interesting lyrics every time. The features on this thing were legendary (outside of Yelawolf), and though this album wasn't much conceptually, it stands at the peak of Rocky's ... read more

A$AP Rocky - LIVE.LOVE.A$AP

everything is really sleepy and chill. its all about the instrumentals and beats, and rocky's voice is just a complement to that. vocals, because of this, aren't super unique, but the uniqueness of the backgrounds make up for that.

A Tribe Called Quest - The Low End Theory
87

really fun to listen to, instrumentals were mostly lacking but the rapping carried so its fine

re-review time
Excursions is an absolute devious late night banger and the cymbal on Buggin' Out is so fire. The lyrics on these songs are so unique and good. The lyrics are just so entertaining, though the production was a wee bit boring at times. Great album.

Childish Gambino - Because the Internet
67

This entire thing is messy and confusing. What is it with the numbers? Anyways, I find some of the ideas to be solid, but they feel sort of unpolished and incomplete. I can still sense some amateur from Gambino, but some of the tracks did feel more complete.

Young Thug - So Much Fun
62

boring except for a few tracks. simply uninteresting.

redveil - playing w/ fire
84

hes back and better than ever

Flying Lotus - Cosmogramma
92

this is very good. i really like the double tracks, and compared to you're dead, everything seems like a more listenable song as a whole while also fitting together just as well as an aesthetic. Though it doesn't have the interesting theme of death or a song as good as You're Dead, Cosmogramma is still far more consistent and fulfilling with more replay value on most tracks. this thing kinda feel like im traveling through dimensions. THATS the reason all the songs have random ... read more

jazzy. dont get the theme and a few songs are goofy but Never Catch Me may be the greatest song ever created

JPEGMAFIA - All My Heroes Are Cornballs
85

ooh first 3 tracks are really nice. kinda like a more wild version of LP! so far. so my thoughts are that he was singing too much but it was still pretty gas, but a bit too scrambeled. glad that he ended up getting things more organized during LP!

Pusha T - DAYTONA
80

sampling was solid but not as good as iad, which ive already listened to. more consistent, though.

Injury Reserve - By the Time I Get to Phoenix
77

what an intro. but the rest of this shit is so damn crazy i cant even distinguish the songs from each other or remember what just happened. this isn't a 9. you cant just mash a ton of random shit together. it doesnt sound good and im not gonna act like it does.

Vince Staples - Big Fish Theory
87

YOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO KENDRICKS ON THIS?????????

hype re-review time
Crabs in a Bucket is an insane intro that's perfectly produced. It has an over-arching theme of bringing others to the ground, more specifically Vince's music unable to breach the mainstream. Big Fish is obviously a banger. This album was insane and had some very unique sounds that were used perfectly. Very nice.

90

very pop

re-review time
This thing was just as incredible as the last time I listened to it. The guitars on some of these tracks are so heavenly. Very good all around, nothing really to pick off of this thing.

Daniel Caesar - NEVER ENOUGH
80

pretty much freudian but with more diverse base and background instrumentals, rather than primarily guitar.

Rae Sremmurd - Sremm 4 Life
76

All of the songs were solid at least, so this album was bound to get a decent rating. It also had some incredible songs like flaunt it/cheap and royal flush, though it was inconsistent overall. I think this was due to swae lee being inconsistent, and if his hooks were better, it could have lived up to sremm life 1. It still beat my expectations though.

Stevie Wonder - Songs in the Key of Life
73

immediately like what he's talking about and how that fits with how the song actually sounds. not a lot of artists do that. it's actually crazy how much they match, that's probably my favorite part about this thing. fell off a bit towards the end but the last 2 songs were gas

I was not looking forward to listening to this lengthy lizard of an album but here we go. I liked the first song but was not a big fan of the instrumentals. Contusion is a heater, and Sir Duke is obviously ... read more

Nas - Illmatic
86

it was pretty good. Production held it back on some parts and it got a bit repetitive for a short album, but it's still a classic and it still has incredible lyricism and flows.

Kelela - Raven
80

decent. not blown away by anything but it was a solid take on r&b.

Larry June & The Alchemist - The Great Escape
77

turkish cotton is a nice intro. barragan lighting is the most jazzy holy song i have ever heard. this whole thing feels like youre just cruising.

Re-review time
This thing was not nerely as regal or vibey or cruisable as last time. It was still really solid don't get me wrong but not a 93. Barragan lighting is still legendary and there are some solid tracks but Larry June was kindof a snore half the time
