Lil Tjay - 222
74

I was surprise by how solid this is. Each track has something unique about it, and though there isn’t anything crazy, I love what he’s expirementing with. It’s a calmer album which is what a lot of people don’t like, but I have enjoyed tjays more chill songs in the past and I enjoy them now.

Lil Uzi Vert - Pink Tape
85

Actually liked the metal songs, everything just sounds so ET. Very creative and I think the melodies he incorporates are unique

Kenny Mason - 6
85

I'm including the songs from the "3" mixtape on this as well. Transitions and beats already go crazy. This is Kenny's best stuff yet. It isn't crazy, but it's showing signs to getting crazy. There are plenty of bangers on 6, but once you get to 3, the roof gets raised to the sky. Back Home and Avatar are both SOTY candidates, and 100 or nun is still a banger. Really solid 2-sided EP here, one of the more impressive releases of the year.

Metro Boomin - METRO BOOMIN PRESENTS SPIDER-MAN: ACROSS THE SPIDER-VERSE (SOUNDTRACK FROM AND INSPIRED BY THE MOTION PICTURE)
86

Each song was incredible on its own, and though some of the individual songs were drawn out (because its a soundtrack), i still think this is one of the better albums to drop this year. There are some really great moments on here and it stands out production-wise compared to some of metro's other work,

KayCyy - TW2052
83

this thing is soooooo floaty and different, especially the production. Kaycyy does a great job of capitalizing on the production as well. very nice.

Lil Durk - Almost Healed
71

I could really feel what this album was going for in the start - healing, joy, a bright future. But, it seemed to go away towards the middle of the album, and the quality of the songs started to drop too. It picked back up nicely after the juice wrld song, but that middle part really brought it down. However, it was solid as a whole.

Danny Brown - Atrocity Exhibition
82

instrumentals and samples were alright, but I don't love the vocals on this album. I enjoyed the concept, but as a whole, there weren't a ton of songs I could see myself coming back to, and as an album, it got a bit boring at times.

OutKast - Aquemini
76

Sort of felt like a mix of ATLiens and Stankonia, and that's what is holding it back in my mind. It feels like there are some songs close to being hits, but all the other aspects of peak Outkast aren't there.

KAYTRAMINÉ - KAYTRAMINÉ
82

Very vibey, just what I would expect from this collab. K&A is a SOTY contender, but I wish there was a hit on this album. However, as an album, it was really solid.

OutKast - ATLiens
86

Was not super impressed, but the background instrumentals and beats were all solid. There wasn't anything crazy that I had likes so much in Stankonia, but this was a great album nonetheless

OutKast - Stankonia
87

oh boy does this remind me of tpab. Every song being unique and also really good, lots of interludes, a central theme that is better in TPAB but is also here, and the best part, the songs sound like the song names. Kindof an alternate-reality version of TPAB. and we all know the rating that TPAB usually gets. And this is getting just lower.

re-review
No clue how or why i used to think this album was anything like tpab, i almost want to delete the first section because it makes me angry to ... read more

The Weeknd - Echoes Of Silence
83

Started a bit slow, but after XO / The Host it was really solid. That song itself is incredible and he carried that momentum well after that. It isn't house of balloons, but it serves as a good ending point to the trilogy

The Weeknd - Thursday
71

I mean it was ok. Nothing crazy, some decent concepts, but overall felt like a less put-together version of House of Balloons. How do you get Drake on a song and only do 2 mill streams. That's this album in a nutshell.

Charles Mingus - The Black Saint and the Sinner Lady
86

i mean it was nice. just need to be able to listen to things more than once. Track C is extremely hard tho

A$AP Rocky - TESTING
73

its rocky, and rocky's creativity and production will always make his projects solid. however, everything beyond that isn't present for this album. its just doesnt have that usual edge.

A$AP Rocky - AT.LONG.LAST.A$AP
85

back home is one of the best songs ive ever heard. this whole album is so uniquely floaty and chill, and you can't appreciate if you aren't a fan of r&b, rap, and a bit of rock. definitely rockys best. incredible.

Re-review time
I had originally gave this thing a 98. That’s cap. This album is insanely good but not that good.

At long last asap to this day stands at the peak of psychedelic rap. This album holds few misses and a lot of incredible songs, and though it ... read more

C418 - Minecraft - Volume Alpha
85

still cant believe im reviewing this rn. but here we go.

im gonna just try to forget that this is minecraft. but listening to this makes me want to go play minecraft. its all kinda sad and nostalgic but everything just feel perfectly crafted. Minecraft aside, this album feels like its building its own world. and damn Equinoxe is underrated. Beat switch on Mice On Venus is emmaculate. It starts to get boring for a bit but the SWEDEN hits and its just emmaculate. The sad stuff sort of ends after ... read more

Conway the Machine - WON'T HE DO IT
58

feels empty with the jazzy beats. voice doesn't fit. there are some tracks that are decent though

Unusual Demont - HUES.
69

really enjoy how each track souds like its title, a really solid into album to who i think will be one of the most important r&b/soul artists in the coming years. some tracks felt a bit common in the way they sounded, but a really solid start overall

Conway the Machine - God Don't Make Mistakes
83

really the most clear and best lyrics ive ever heard, its actually stuff that makes sense. he layers that on very satisfying and consistent beats. though a lot of these tracks i dont see myself coming back to, there are a few that have decent replay value.
