Mustard - Faith of a Mustard Seed
54

Eh. Another mid trap album.

Britney Spears - Blackout
82

Was not expecting to like this thing so much, but it was a very enjoyable listen. This album really felt like it influenced things in terms of the instruments being used and the vocal effects and both of those things were used extremely well throughout this thing. This album also holds some of my favorite pop bangers of all time.

Childish Gambino - Bando Stone and The New World
79

Really solid album. Had a lot of weak spots and was disorganized but made up that with some absolute bangers and beautiful songs. Really impressed and the subject matter he touched on feels relatable

Denzel Curry - King of the Mischievous South Vol. 2
79

ALBUM OF THE YEAR. Holy shit this album was insane. All 3 of the singles (4 if you count SKED) were insanely gas, and those weren’t even the best tracks on the album for the most part. Denzel literally did not have a 7/10 song this entire time. All were 8s or above. This dude just knows how to make an album. Let guests have their shine and went absolutely insane when it was his turn. And can we talk about the phonk influences? Holy moly that was my favorite part. All the interludes were ... read more

Lupe Fiasco - Samurai
84

Thought I already rated this but this thing was gas start to finish. Early contender for AOTY for sure.

$NOT - Viceroy
66

Don’t understand how people are rating this below a 5 when it’s basically 6 of $nots best songs and then some mid in between. The first 2 tracks are legitimately some of the best songs of the year, then it’s some mid with a few good songs until the end where it picks back up again. Definitely a return to form for $not compared to his last record. Production was very impressive as well. Overall still not insanely good but a very typical and like able album from $not.

The Alchemist - Yacht Rock 2
76

yeah the second track could have been incredible. Really good atmosphere and vibe created by the Alchemist.

Ski Mask the Slump God - 11th Dimension
67

Ski dropped a good album. The music was solid but it feels like he literally did everything else except for the music wrong. Skis one of my favorite artists but respectfully the song order is terrible and the album cover is even worse. Stokeley had a great album cover, but this is one the of worst I have ever seen. Anyways, I liked this album. Skis flow was again near flawless but the production was definitely subpar on most tracks. His couple chill songs that he usually throws in were really ... read more

Kamasi Washington - Fearless Movement
84

This thing was extremely mystical but had enough substance for replayability. I thought it was unique in the way it walked the thin line between ambiance and jazz. Bro is also insane with the saxophone. All of the features were nice inclusions as well, specifically Thundercat and D Smoke.

Future - DS2
69

Including the deluxe on here. This thing shined in its consistency but i wasn't overly impressed like I am by most young thug albums. Still really solid tho.

Mach-Hommy - #RICHAXXHAITIAN
87

Holy moly. Instrumentals were insane for the most part and Mach-Hommy's voice and flow have just the right amount of variance. Blended really well and this is an early contender for AOTY

Childish Gambino - Atavista
73

Really big improvement from the first release of this thing, there were some absolutely ELITE tracks on this thing but there were some moments that will definitely be forgotten. Overall really solid and i'm hyped for this summer's all new childish gambino record.

d4vd - Petals to Thorns
80

So as someone who doesn't have tiktok (apparently this guy's a big thing on there), I think this EP is really good and I won't let bias persuade me. Honestly love how he visited multiple lanes throughout this thing and expanded his sound on just 9 songs. His voice is incredible and all these tracks are very smoothly excecuted.

Concrete Boys - It's Us Vol. 1
76

There are some weaker tracks but even the lows have solid beats. The beats on this thing were impeccable throughout and it created some really good tracks when the concrete boys were doing their job. Their chemistry is great already, and I can't wait to see where this group goes in the future,

Fleetwood Mac - Fleetwood Mac
83

Not nearly as good as Rumors, but this thing has some very solid tracks without straying too much from that traditional sound we all know and love

Future - WE DON'T TRUST YOU
66

Started off strong but ran out of appeal and creativity towards the end

ScHoolboy Q - BLUE LIPS
87

These little flutes got me ELEVATING. These samples are just straight CLASSY, and I think Schoolboy Q and others complement them beautifully with more energy. And there are some absolute heaters in here like Pig feet and Movie. The west-side rap feel in here is alive and well, and Schoolboy Q brings an incredible new sound to his already-strong foundation.

70

Interesting drums are the main highlight (or lowlight) or this album. It really reminded my of For All The Dogs in its level of inconsistency, except its highs were higher and its lows were less low. Do It and Carnival are already two of the best songs 2024, but overall, it's rather unimpressive.

Young Thug - Beautiful Thugger Girls
74

Another instance of Young Thug switching subgenres and shining in that switch. Though a good portion of the tracks on here felt filler, the ones where the guitar instrumentals shine are insane. If Young Thug shortened this thing down 5 songs it could be his best album. The guitar simply is crisp sometimes. And Thug shines in his vocals in those moments.
