one of the most beautiful albums I have ever heard

Uboa - Impossible Light
96

if you want a panic attack, this is the album for you :)

the most devastating album i have heard in a long time. i think the word harrowing is the most overused word in industrial music, but i dont care: this album is HARROWING. uboa has the magical ability to go heavier when it doesn't seem possible. this album is much more metal-based than detransitioning, and it is executed masterfully. there are some mind-bending drops in this project that are unlike anything i have ever heard, ... read more

The Books - Thought For Food

the only way i can describe this album is that it feels like a warm hug from narduwar.

i love how comforting this album sounds. the mixes are so wide it completely immerses me in the beautiful arrangments. there is a notable lack of melodies for a lot of the songs, but the atmosphere is what truly keeps me coming back. songs like enjoy your worries and all our base are absolutely gorgeous and some of my favorite songs of all time. the audio samples of people talking and having fun are so ... read more

Eldoubleuu - Self Titled

this was a super interesting listen! the production goes unbelievably hard for a lot of the album, but unfortunately the rapping is several steps behind. some of the flows are interesting, but a lot of the verses are reminiscent of quadeca's 'voice memos'. BUT i am insanely impressed with the production, and i am actually super optimistic for the future of eldoubleuu! also his choruses are really catchy and the drums sound so so good. overall im sad i didnt enjoy this more than i ... read more

Angel Olsen - MY WOMAN

incredible production, singing, and instrumentation. there are no bad songs on this album, although certain songs like not gonna kill you can feel a little too minimal for the style the rest of the album fits. the ending of sister is absolutely magical and probably my favorite moment from all of 2016's indie rock scene. angel's singing fits her name, and she is able to effortlessly embellish every line to make the whole album interesting! an absolute must listen!!

PACKS - Melt The Honey

incredibly laid-back, super relaxing rock album. a really fun listen to just vibe to. decent production and the lyrics can be pretty funny sometimes. overall i really liked the vibes of this album! definitely worth a listen!

UMI - talking to the wind
64

a really fun laid-back well-produced ep! its not super ambitious, and it accomplishes what it wants to while being super short. definitely worth the listen!

Kevin Quinn - Real Me
30

not a huge fan of the production or the vocals or the lyrics, but theres a few parts here that are listenable! not a fan of the guitar beats at all. it sometimes achieves the depth its going for, but probably only once or twice on the whole album. theres definitely potential, but its not my favorite thing ever.

79

such a lush and beautiful listen!! kali is wildly underrated for her pure consistency and talent. there are no bad songs on this album, and te mata is probably my favorite kali song ever. such a great album, and im so glad shes releasing so consistently! my favorite of the year so far, definitely worth the listen!!

ericdoa - DOA
70

it started off super strong and exciting! dancin is probably my favorite ericdoa song, but after kickstand the album started to all kind of sound the same. it still was fun to listen too, and there is definitely a lot of good songs on here. im really excited to hear his future stuff, and i really like the way he's taking his music! overall it is definitely worth the listen, but in my opinion the first half is leagues better than the second.

EKKSTACY - ekkstacy
60

a fun but kinda bland listen. there is a lot of potential on display here, so im super excited to hear their next projects!! i really like most of the guitar and bass tones throughout, and the kid laroi is surprisingly good on alright (probably my favorite song on here along with bella and shutting me out and get me out). the lyrics can be hit-or-miss, and they didnt leave much of an impact on me either way. overall its worth a listen if youre into indie pop-punk type stuff!

Billow Observatory - Soliton - EP
71

this was an extremely atmospheric and relaxing listen. overall the production was pretty decent, but nothing particularly impressive stood out. it doesnt overstay its welcome, and provides a very comforting soundscape to lose yourself in. definitely worth a listen, and im excited to listen to the rest of this duo's stuff, as this is my first time hearing of them!

Charlie Parker - Charlie Parker with Strings
100

one of my favorite byrd albums recordings ever. his soloing is flawless, especially on just friends. that song is my favorite sax solo of all time easily. this is the gold standard of bebop saxophone. the orchestrations compliments his flurries of notes perfectly, and everything coalesces into a beautiful compilation of parker's best songs, all in a live setting. such an incredible album. you must listen to this.

Fredo Bang - Yes, I'm Sad
55

its not terrible, but i dont think ill be returning to this album anytime soon. nothing against fredo, its just not my style. it kinda feels like r/im14andthisisdeep, but not as bad as it could be. the feature on ring ring is surprisingly good! there are some moments that go hard on this project, but overall im not a huge fan. i'll probably listen to his other stuff though! overall its worth the listen if you like getting hyped up or at a party or sumn!

Coldplay - The Blue Room
78

somehow this is still the only coldplay project ive heard all the way through!? i was surprised by how much i like this. whenever i think of coldplay, i think of their song with bts so obviously my view of them isnt all that great. but this album was really engaging! i super enjoyed the drumming and the lyricism. overall definitely worth a listen, and its tempting me to listen to their whole discog. i dont want to be disappointed though so...

TV Girl - TV Girl
59

its not awful in any way, but it is pretty bland for the most part, there are a few parts where the production is actually surprisingly good, and some of the beats are pretty killer, but overall they dont make up all the way for the mid-tier writing and instrumentals. overall worth a listen if you like tv girl's cheesy stuff a lot, but i wouldnt particularly recommend it!

Sade - Love Deluxe
93

how do i even begin? this was the only cd i had in my car, and it doesnt have an aux, so ive spent plenty of time with this piece of art ;)
so incredibly smooth, comforting, and beautiful. easily one of my favorite r and b albums ever. sade's voice draws me in effortlessly, and i was especially impressed by the bass playing on this album. such a fantastic classic album. a must-listen by any measure.
