The first album to join the 100 club upon revisit, but I realize now that there hasn't been a more beautiful album released since
This album genuinely made my day worse. I was so excited to hear a new wave of chill but groovy music and was instead transported to a mostly empty dance floor with watered down drinks. The new direction loses the signature Tame Impala atmosphere and environment, replacing it with poppy, techno elements that make this album feel like it was made in a factory and not a villa
OK Computer is an emotional whirlwind with themes that are equally depressing and inspiring with enough experimenting to make every song feel fresh and interesting with its own message to the listener but also keep the album a cohesive piece. This album cannot be ignored when discussing 100s
Ok so my last review of this I was smoking crack so I dont know what the fuck that was: Here's my update.
I love how Soundgarden leans into the metal and classic rock elements but allows their own sound to slowly develop through the songs and take you on a journey with the band
This album is a lovely emotional crossroads between the joy and horror of a childhood, and the artistry needed to create such a comprehensive piece despite tracks that sound so different from each other is something I can only admire. The transitions between songs bleeding between tracks make this an art piece to be understood as a collective like I haven't seen in modern folk.
An album I thoroughly enjoy that led me down the pipeline of grunge and alternative, but after more exploration of these genres, I can definitely understand the accusations of them being a collection of every other grunge band on more than a few tracks. Despite that, I still enjoy it so it's gonna get a good rating, and the heavier distorted guitars being messy feels endearing to me...
