Re-review again, it’s a very remarkable and consistent pop punk album like have mentioned and still remains one of my favorite albums of all time. It’s immature themes, hooky riffs, and the drumming from Barker all works together in unison so well and that’s what sells this album in my opinion
This album is what got me into Porter Robinsons music. After my brother showed me his music I decided to pick up SMILE on CD. And lemme tell you it was a great choice. Behind all the sugary, and high-paced beats in songs like Russian Roulette and Cheerleader and as Perfect Pinterest Garden, lies much deeper meaning that makes this album feel less of a hyperPop album made to please the ears and more a HyperPop album made to please the ears but with honest lyrics and tones that paint the picture ... read more
Dawn FM is the secound installment In the weeknds final project which is a trilogy between After Hours and Hurry Up Tomorrow. While I do think the latter half of this album is lacking and carryed by songs such as Is There Someone Else? and Don't Break My Heart I do think it's one of the best flowing albums.
I didn't realize how good this album is. This album is pure generational run. This whole album is an easy listen but not to easy. The bending of RnB into Rap creates a balanced album with the title track having both genres. My only complaint about this album is that some songs sound like they are made in a company board meeting. Specifically Blinding Lights and Save Your Tears. But once you realize it's a complex story album and a trilogy with Dawn Fm and Hurry up tomorrow it's ... read more
This album is a masterpiece. A personal album made by ported robinson about his struggles with mental health and creative block. These themes are perfectly "reflected" in songs like Mirror, Musician, And Trying to feel alive. The Melody's and upbeatness of Musician makes it a favorite right off the first listen and Lifelike into Look at the sky makes you know what the album has in store. Certified hood classic
This album makes it make sense on why I love Aphex twin. This and Alpha being pseudo-soundtracks for my child hood next to shitty punk rock and the killers it's bound to be good. But listening to this album as a conscious person made me realize how much c418 was cooking while we were constructing what came to mind in Minecraft. I prefer this volume over alpha imo.
My 1# fave album of all time. This is an IDM masterpiece with it's mind bending melodies in Xtal and Agiespolis. Songs like heliosphan are great songs to hear every now and then as a treat in my playlist.
My wholeass review got deleted, anywho, This album feels dragged and a tad boring compared to the rest of the trilogy which I still need to review on this god forsaken site. Best song is open hearts and soil pailo or whatever fucking sucks fuck you
This is a great hyperpop/ digicore ep that has definitely helped me get through some classes as it's short runtime and easy listen can make time fly. The opener with Midwxst has definitely grown on me but one song I really don't listen to is dog eat dog. I've listened to this ep about 9 times all the way through and it still doesn't catch my ear.
This album is heavy, light, and medium all at the time with music that makes me wanna just vibe. The mature themes in this album makes it an experience that makes any other pop-punk, alt-rock, and post-grunge album to basically shame. It's moving lyrics in "Jumper" and angsty vocals in "Narcolepsy" creates a blend of similar yet different genres to create a easy yet interesting listening experience. HIGHLY recommend
As a stand alone album it's so good, but as the follow up to EOTS it can get over shadowed but having listening to this album constantly during school and drawing sessions it's grown on me. Just like EOTS it has immature themes off relationships, break-ups and other things but also more mature themes about Teens and how the world affects them, Abusive relationships and unbalanced love. A very solid album to a follow up to a masterpiece.
This is definitely one of my favorite LPs of all time. the dreamy atmosphere and great guitar parts especially in Sparks, and Wildflower are euphoric. Just a solid, magnificent, euphoric experience of an album
Probably my favorite album at the moment. A rollercoaster of beats and synths. a piece of art
