Fluoresce is an absolute regression from Maisie Peters. Production gets so stale by the end, with very little variation, and lyrics just aren't interesting, or use painful extended metaphors that made me cringe (see: "Flat Earther").
I miss Maisie's debut album era. I miss when her music felt much more exciting and energetic and less ballad-y. All the life seems to have been sucked out of her; and she keeps on singing about the same topics, the same ideas, just in ... read more
The first 7 tracks on here make you think that this might be decent...then you get past those and it falls into a slump. There's a few tracks I'll take away from this ("Whisper My Name", "Janice STFU" and "Make Them Pay")... but the rest just does not appeal, and falls into familiar Drake trappings.
Takes a minute to get going, but tracks 5 through 10 are absolutely brilliant. Definitely one I want to revisit, this is a super fun ambient pop record that certainly carves out its own sound, with compelling vocals and super intriguing ideas.
Edward is experimenting in ways I wish Peggy still was. This is a fascinating Body Of Work (no pun intended) that I definitely need to revisit. "Art is Sucking The Life Out Of Me Ok" is probably one of my fave songs I've heard all year, too.
This is like Honestly, Nevermind if it was executively produced by

Reminded me heavily of Blood Orange... including the parts that I didn't love about this kind of R&B. Like the Blood Orange record from last year, this was a nice listen, but a lot of it just didn't really jump out to me. There are some great songs on here though, like the title track, "Twisted Angel", and "Forced Perspective". Samba has a good voice, but I just wasn't totally in love with everything tried here.
This is a weird one. Tacky lyrics, self-referential in a bad way, odd vocal mixing choices, very underwhelming production choices. Not really sure what the vision with this one was!
A rare 0 from me. This misogynistic, transphobic piece of shit needs to lose his platform immediately. What a vile song.
The guy whose music helped get me into rap is totally washed now. So it goes.
Sometimes, I get a craving to listen to this album. And pretty much every time I do, I'm reminded of Peggy's harmatia - he can't stop rapping about the same shit.
All he raps about is dunking on haters, his opps, and women. And though that sounds like the stereotypical characterisation of rap, that's it. Every song on here is about one of those things. And it's painful, and very present in every Peggy album since this.
The thing this album has going for it is the ... read more
Some cool ideas on here, I just think a lot of these tracks went on far too long without any substantial progression. Sure, tracks like "Distant Lights", "Southern Comfort" and "Pirates" are exceptions, but otherwise this album just kinda passed by without really impacting me.
Shoutout Burial drums though. Unmatched.
This didn't blow me away, and I felt like I didn't get as much of Isaiah's perspective (or much really at all) from the lyricism here. There's a few cool tracks here ("719 FREESTYLE" and "SAME SH!T" as examples), but it's not a body of work I see myself returning to at all, really. His flows are cool, his production is decent, but... eh.
A sprawling and beautiful record by William Harries. Deadharrie's latest record continues to evolve and build his sound that has become progressively more pronounced and escaping just being slowcore and indie rock tinged. The introduction of these noise rock sounds, especially on tracks like "Battlefield", is so welcome.
Deadharrie's records are just affirming for me. And what I mean by that is when I put them on, I'm just glad I did. His music has brought me so much ... read more
A really interesting record I can see myself returning to - I enjoyed this a lot more than her recent record (which was the first underscores record I'd heard!).
Some really interesting indetronica/folk sounds on here, reminds me a little of Brakence, but Underscores is by no means a clone of him whatsoever. Especially loved the closer on this, it really got me in a reflective place.
I don't have too many thoughts, but my overarching one is that I wanna come back to this!
