When I heard symptom of life I was expecting it to be the standout track on this album. Boy was I wrong. The quality is there from start to finish. This project is so much fun, so introspective and packed full with new ideas. I need more of this. Probably the best thing I've heard so far this year.

This is... rough. Kinda fun but, like, I will not be listening to this again.

Tame Impala - Lonerism

Apocalypse Dreams will not leave my head, that song and Feels Like We Only Go Backwards are both 10s. Rest of the album is varying shades of great and just okay. Didn't like the closer on here, feels out of place witg the rest of the album.

Great album. My main issue is the 3 song stretch of Past Life, Disciples and 'Cause I'm a Man. Past life haults the momentum of the album with this weird deep edited voice. Jarring on the first listen, after the pure bliss of what comes before it. I like the message of the song but the final product feels gimmicky. Disciples I can appreciate but it's so short that it leaves me wanting more. While 'Cause I'm a Man has grown on me, I still do not like this song. For my first few listens, I ... read more

The best Tame Impala album. Yes... I will die on this hill. Likely alone but I'm okay with that.

This is great. Incredibly witty and decently funny. The instrumentation is pretty consistent too, even if there's nothing revolutionary. There's a good bit of social commentary littered throughout, which I can imagine would be hit or miss for most people. I absolutely love it, I think it's well thought out and fits great with their unconventional delivery. Popular 2 is probably my favorite track off here. It does make me wonder though, if Popular 2 is so popular, why isn't there a Popular 1?

Pretty good. Symptom of Life is better but either way hyped for the record.

I really wish I could give this a higher score. I was really blown away by the first 4 tracks. Pat a Dragon builds up a lot of tension that is eased by how pleasant Estuary of Dreams is. Something that isn't repeated for the most intense track Bird Angel Dynasty, while I did enjoy that track I was desperate for a gentle interlude to cool off. I had to pause the album to give my ears a brake.

I found most of the album past Siren to feel sluggish. Especially Heroin King. I just... 17 MINUTES?!?! ... read more

Relistened to this since I haven't since around the time it came out. Not... not great. But frankly better than what I remembered. There are a few standout moments on here. Tokyo Drifting is frankly a bit cringey, but I can't stop myself from vibing with it, there's so much energy on this track and I love it for that. I remember hating Heat Waves and Tangerine but honestly I feel they're decently well executed. Both of them I can kinda groove, and I think the only reason I disliked them so much ... read more

The song is aight. The cover art is better. More art like this pwease.

Overhated; the album. Is it great? Nah, but it's not offensive at all. There's some genuinely great tracks on here, and I'd say bounce man is the only dud. I think this project would've been better trimmed down to a 6-8 track ep, however the already short runtime aids this projects listenability.

Imagine Dragons - Eyes Closed

Another lackluster ID release. Which is dissapointing but not surprising. Their last album had some genuinely good songs ( My Life, Wrecked, They Don't Know You Like I Do) and I was really hoping they'd learn what they did right. Instead the lead single for what's expected to be their 6th LP is just more over the top performances meant to fill seats.

underscores - Wallsocket

A deep dive into the gen z psyche. Discussing the many aspects of growing up in 21st century America. From benign chronic illness, navigating your trans identity in a heavily religious family to the parasocial relationships that the internet enables. April's writing is downright impressive throughout most of the songs, and her production keeps going strong to the very end.
