Injury Reserve - By the Time I Get to Phoenix
100

Experimental rap hall of fame album. Every listen hits just as hard as that first listen. It's soul crushing, it's erratic, it's insane. It's fucking perfect.

Baby Keem - The Melodic Blue
70

As a debut album, this is crazy good, maybe a bit long tho. Still, Kdot and Baby Keem go hard and I felt the emotions on issues.

Dorian Electra - Flamboyant
90

Hyper pop masterpiece. The aesthetic is flawless, the emotions are raw and they just be going way too hard ngl.

Yellow Magic Orchestra - Solid State Survivor
85

Japanse Electro in the 70s, 80s is truly unmatched.

高中正義 [Masayoshi Takanaka] - THE RAINBOW GOBLINS
85

It's beautiful, it's fun and it's consistent the whole way through. Fucking love Masayoshi Takanaka.

Denzel Curry - King of the Mischievous South Vol. 2
80

People are sleeping on this tbh. I don't think it's Denzel's best work but I mean come on, his love for the game, and the return to that DISGUSTING FILTHY sound of the South is so much fun. That Mexican OT is funny af.

Vince Staples - Dark Times
85

Maybe my favorite Vince album. As much as I loved Big Fish Theory, the lyrics hit so much harder on this, it feels a lot truer to who Vince is as an artist and the consensus smartest dude in the room.

Viagra Boys - Cave World
92

This might be one of my favorite albums of all time. The riffs, the lyrics, it's a lovely mess yet feels absolutely on point the whole time. Every time I listen to Troglodyte I'll look up VB on songkick to see if they're touring around me. I need to experience that song live.

Danny Brown - Quaranta
80

It's a clear disconnect with the nihilistic, hedonistic and boisterous energies of his past work yet it's a natural shift to reflect where he's at in his life. A tamer more mature take yet it's so much more personal and hits just as hard despite the short run time. Glad we get to see Danny grow old cuz if you had asked me in 2010s, I'd say he was headed to an early death no doubt.

Charli xcx - BRAT
90

It slaps, it's vulnerable yet it's accessible. A crazy combo.

JPEGMAFIA - I LAY DOWN MY LIFE FOR YOU
95

He's always been unique but he has never put it together this flawlessly. This is my album of the year. If the range, the depth and the features weren't enough, the production is absurd.

This is worthy of the hall of fame of alternative/experimental rap.
