roll is the sole reason I’m rating this album so low. I don’t know who thought using the row your boat beat was a good idea for a comeback album, let alone kpop (which already isn’t a genre taken seriously by the masses) but they should be tarred and feathered. I don’t think I’ve ever had a song irritate me this much and I’ve endured katseye’s recent singles.
standouts: lemonade, can’t help myself, switchblade
Don’t let the reviews fool you, this collection of remixes is far superior to the standard album, save for the midnight sun remix.
It’s pretty flat, but I think it’ll grow on me in context of the full album
This genre does not fit her voice. Her voice doesn't really suit anything going on production wise, tbh. I don't think that's an issue with her vocals per se ( i am a defender of 'harsh, screechy, unconventional' singing ) but a sound that plays well with those vocals will do her wonders, similar to Jessi Murph's vocals sounding far more palatable with the sound she leaned into with Sex Hysteria (deluxe) vs the mess of songs that exists on the standard
Run of the mill pop album. there's a smattering of interesting production here and there but nothing that'll blow you away. these are the albums i put into the 'artists who have yet to find their sound' category. lots of potential. enjoyable listen, but not something i'll find myself coming back to because i can find this sound every where.
stumbled upon this randomly. What an opener. This usually isn’t really my type of thing, but I love an artist who’s aware their voice is an instrument. Incredibly produced and that’s including the weaker songs. Lots of potential here!
I like it the more I listen but why does it sound like a shitty YouTube rip 😭
realistically, there’s about 4 memorable songs where everything else seems to blend together. house, dying for you, chains of love, and funny mouth are some of charli’s best work. production wise, the album is gorgeous but a lot of it begins to sound the same the longer I listen to it
