MIRAR - Gradus ad Parnassum

There’s an audience for this, I’m just not it

Crowquill - Erase The File
95

What is this? A metalcore album that actually is daring? Best I’ve heard since fallingwithscissors

A Knife In The Dark - Songs Without Witness

A solid rough and true to its core metalcore release from these guys. Love a good metalcore EP that doesn't hold back on beating your head in

Moodring - death fetish
60

Such a disappointment from what has been a band that produced the most interesting ”Nu-metalcore” in a long time. All their EPs have been hitting hard with its own flair on the genre that has truly made them stick out in a already cramped genre.

But on this album they deliver the ultimate slopfest in between the singles which actually slap! The songs in between sounds like watered down Bad Omen.

I had high hopes for this release but this fucking sucks

Sleeping with Sirens - An Ending In Itself
80

Damn, its been a long time since I listened to some SWS but this is truly IT! Cant wait for the album, if it keeps the same standard as this single this album can truly be up there as the best I've heard this year

Boundaries - Skies cast amber black
40

Who ever mixed and produced this should be put in jail

Moodring - Masochist Machine
78

Really solid EP

I find Moodring to have a very unique sound, even though this is basically how all metalcore sounds in 2024–2026. Still, I find them very distinct, and they separate themselves from the others by executing everything so well. I’m very excited for the full-length LP from these guys.

HEAVENSGATE - A HEART IS A HEAVY BURDEN
70

PETRICHOR and DARLING BLUE are both such fucking snooze fests, there is absolutely no need for 8 mins of ballads on a 20 min hardcore EP

On their own sure great songs, but on what could be an absolute all sonic assault which HEAVENSGATE does so fucking well, better than any current band in the genre. I can’t help but wanting so much more from this. It’s only 20 mins, why pull the breaks? The final song on here does that well on its own

Sadness - Vivify

This is peak blackgaze, what a beautiful yet horrific song

Thank you for existing

Ethel Cain - Willoughby Tucker, I'll Always Love You

This ended up being pretty much what I expected. But I cant help but leave a bit disappointed. Perhaps it is that Slowcore isnt for me but damn does this album become a drag at the 8th track. Tempest and Waco, Texas has to be my least favourite tracks by far, to me they're straight up boring especially Tempest.

Coming from an album like Perverts that I loved I had high hopes for these tracks that clock in at +10min, but perhaps that is to a fault of my own since Perverts diverges so far ... read more

Sleep Token - Even in Arcadia

I know it’s fun and all to shit on ST but I got to admit, they do know their fan base and what they want almost better than any other band out there and that I think demands respect.

Will Even in Arcadia expand their fan base? No, no fucking chance. They will continue be the laughingstock outside of the ST bubble

Sleep Token - Damocles

Went into this thinking I’m in for another shit show but hey, they actually delivered! No left turns, no genre blends just a straight forward track that actually sounds good production wise and sound wise. I could do it with less of his vocals but hey, that’s a taste thing isn’t it.

I knew they were capable of writing good coherent songs

EDIT: people giving this song a 0-20 are just as delusional as the ones rating it 80-100

Jane Remover - Revengeseekerz
72

One of those albums I enjoyed which I probably will never listen to again

Magnoliac - A Dream To Wash Away
65

found this to be quite boring

Messa - The Spin
78

Not really what I usually go for, but I enjoyed it

Thornhill - BODIES
69

Whatever this genre is, finally someone executes it well

Deafheaven - Roads to Judah
94

Violet just might be their best track ever

Sleep Token - Caramel

I feel like the guys playing the instruments try soo hard to actually make a good song. The drummer is really really good and when they actually get to do some black gaze shit it actually sounds pretty good. Even the screaming in those sections i believe are by the guitarist.

But this band just has me feeling that the instrumentals are in this constant state of a iron balls grip where they have to adapt to the pop balladesque and horrifically cringy sound and style of the singer. It’s ... read more

NOT A SINGLE SKIP, TELL ME THERE IS AND I WILL RATE IT LOWER. I DARE YOU

Tallah - What we know
75

As it seems the new fad in modern day metal core is to completely abandon all previous sounds of the band I am happy to hear that Tallah is going strong and keeping it to what they do best. Looking forward to more releases from this band

"@eoddleifson Disagree. It's like they know how to write great songs or even a full-on album with cohesive songs that sound great, but chose not to in order to appeal to a wider audience and TikTok and hopefully make it on to mainstream radio. Its a money grab above artistic expression, thats why it is worth less than 30"

"100% agree, it’s like the lead vocalist has the rest of the band at gun point to fit his whiny ass pop style"

"It is delusional, like basically ”ah so knocked loose did a reggaeton breakdown and people loved it? We should also add reggaeton to our songs an people will love us more!” Completely disregarding what made the reggaeton for KL work in the first place. Just goes to show that they have no general idea of what they are doing"

"I agree with the lyric take, but I'd like to think of this album as being a parody of the genre itself. From that point of view I think the lyrics takes this album over the top, since it is able to create such a banger of an album when in reality it is a parody of itslef, almost inceptionesque haha. The band members themselves dont take them selves to seriosly either which I find refreshing in this other serious and "not one of us" genre"

"I think the general problem is the extreme hype for the album. Quite hard to live up to expectations that this will be AOTY no questions asked"
