Bright Green Field is a very strong debut effort. Squid blend post-punk and krautrock jumping from jagged riffs to warped ambient passages. Tracks like G.S.K. and Paddling are genuinely exhilarating. While I will say the album is noticeably front-heavy, the second half really only falls flat in songwriting, and still has a number of interesting textural moments.
