Michael Jackson - HIStory: Past, Present and Future - Book I
70

HIStory Continues has some very high highs, but also a handful of mediocre songs that feel completely out of place in Michael Jackson's catalog. The more aggressive tone is a welcome shift in his artistic direction, but it doesn't fully pay off across the whole LP.

Brent Faiyaz - Icon
78

Icon is Brent Faiyaz's most consistent album in recent years, filled with great production, vocal performances, and lyricism. The only thing this LP lacks is unforgettable and truly jaw-dropping tracks. While all of them are good (and even great at times) few are genuinely stunning.

Michael Jackson - Bad
88

Bad is an amazing album, but ends up being underappreciated within Michael Jackson's discography. There are a few weaker tracks on the LP when compared to its predecessors, but overall you still get great performances, a variety of styles and subject matters, and phenomenal production.

Michael Jackson - Invincible
75

Invincible is a highly underrated album by the King of Pop, embracing a more modern production style that leans into R&B and would go on to influence 2000s pop and R&B. What holds it back is neither Michael Jackson's performances nor the production itself, but rather the repetitiveness and unnecessary length of a handful of tracks. The excessive mellowness of certain songs also undermines the project's cohesion. In fact, the LP could be split into two halves: the first ... read more

Common - Be
90

Amazing production, amazing performances, amazing features, amazing lyrical subjects, amazing writing... There is not much more that I could say about this album. Be by Common should be regarded way higher than it is.

Stevie Wonder - Innervisions
95

Nothing is ever topping Songs In The Key Of Life, but Innervisions is still one of the best albums ever made and gets outshined by its "cousin". At the peak of Stevie Wonder's creativity, this LP is extremely political and a little psychedelic. The messages are still relevant to this day, and the production is great (even though it is minimal at some points). Stevie's singing is also amazing and very fitting to each song's concept.

Kanye West - BULLY
45

BULLY is a better project than the Vultures series, but is far below Kanye standarts. Besides a few tracks, most of the LP sounds souless and unfinished.

Rihanna - ANTI
83

On ANTI, Rihanna creates a cohesive atmosphere throughout the whole LP, mixing R&B and Pop. It does not innovate, but the great songwriting and consistent production culminate in a highly enjoyable experience.

Harry Styles - Kiss All The Time. Disco, Occasionally.
45

I usually enjoy Harry Styles' albums, but this one was not it. The production is either the most generic thing ever or a mix of one thousand eletronics effects. Not only that, but a bunch of songs re-use the same elements.

His writing is at an all time low, and so is his singing, with very uninspired performances that make you feel absolutely nothing.

Still, the things I have said are not true for every single song, with exceptions such as The Waiting Game, Coming Up Roses, and Dance ... read more

Sade - Lovers Rock
75

The natural evolution of Sade's sound, going into a more low-key territory. Lovers Rock is kind of a mix between Stronger Than Pride (in themes and acoustic sound) and Love Deluxe (in atmospheric soundscape and gentle vibe). Not her best work, but another great LP from the amazing singer and talented band.

Miles Davis - Kind of Blue
95

I am not a jazz expert, but this is beautiful. Great as background music but also to enjoy every single instrument.

Bruno Mars - The Romantic
50

The Romantic is a very forgettable LP, finding Bruno Mars at his most uninspired. It pushes from some slightly different sounds, that all end up sounding like Silk Sonic throwaways.

Baby Keem - Ca$ino
50

Ca$ino has some bangers and the production is mostly great. But Baby Keem's introspection is very shallow, the melodic tracks are not good, and the album is not cohesive either. This LP is a downgrade from The Melodic Blue and is subpar from the artist's capabilities.

J. Cole - The Fall-Off
90

Besides one or two unnecessary tracks, The Fall-Off is J. Cole at the peak of his songwriting and storytelling creating a conceptual double-disc LP that works perfectly. The production is also a lot better than his previous works, even though it is very minimal sometimes.

Miles Davis - In a Silent Way
90

I am no jazz expert, but In a Silent Way pleases the hell out of my ears.

Dijon - Absolutely
75

Dijon's debut is an LP filled with great ideias and deep and emotive songwriting... The only problem with Absolutely is that some of ideias do not come off that great and it also sounds a bit too messy sometimes.

Don Toliver - OCTANE
57

This LP is your average Don Toliver album: great melodies, singing and production, but too many tracks that sound the same or are very generic. OCTANE does not inovate, but is a very decent addition to the artist's discography.

NxWorries - Yes Lawd!
50

Yes Lawd! has a lot of great ideias that are, more often than not, poorly executed. Besides some standout tracks, a few songs feel like very long interludes, Anderson .Paak's lyrics are sometimes all over the place, and Knxwledge's production ends up feeling repetitive too. Still a cohesive and enjoyable LP if you like the artists' style.

Billie Eilish - HIT ME HARD AND SOFT
80

HIT ME HARD AND SOFT is Billie Eilish's most cohesive LP, both sonically and lyrically. The "poppier" songs are great, the deep cuts are highly enjoyable, her vocals are better than ever, and Finneas production is consistent all throughout. Some songs drag on for too long, though.

NxWorries - WHY LAWD?
85

WHY LAWD? finds Anderson .Paalk at the best of his songwriting, balancing very well his sober and playful styles. Knxwledge also improves his production to fit with the theme of each song, creating a very cohesive, reflexive and fun LP.
