I'm not totally sure what my life was before this album. I'm being hyperbolic, of course, but this album is worth it to me. So excellent. Both moving and revolutionary. A hidden classic.
An unspeakably beautiful work. One of the defining masterpieces of modern folk. I don't think I've ever loved an album as much as this one.
While her previous album overshadows it in my opinion, this album is just as impressive to me in terms of songwriting and production. There isn't a moment that I don't love here with wild abandon, although the rubbery synths on "Swoon" could get a bit tiresome, and "Aha!" is a little out of character with its electronic witchiness. My personal favorite pop album of the 2000s, and a crucial album for me during my teenage years. "Hide and Seek" is Heap's staple song, and it might be the best track here due to its simplicity. It's an outlier, an elemental one that perhaps works best outside the context of the record. The rest of the record is rather different.
