His best since Ramona. Feels like what he was trying to do on Snowglobe Theory but fully realised.
This one kinda blows. “We kiss each other, real incestuous vibes” what are you talking about lmao
Objectively incredible but I don’t think it should be 2 hours long ðŸ˜
Just disappointing. Rav has always managed to be likeable enough to not be annoying, but here he is insufferable. If this were a Kill Bill solo album I’d be much more positive I think. A real damn shame.
Knife Man is crass, unapologetic, and sometimes downright blunt with its lyrics and messaging. Yet, somehow, it never manages to feel like it ever crosses too far of a line (except for Backpack). I’ve had this on repeat for the last few weeks and it manages to stay fresh and meaningful with each listen. A personal favourite of mine is Sad Songs. It sounds like a song being played to a couple of people just before the bar closes. Feeling like a venting of their grievances and how their ... read more
In terms of production quality, I think April has improved in leaps and bounds since Wallsocket. Everything here sounds TIGHT. The melodies are slick, the hooks are sticky, it's a joy from beginning to end. I think my biggest issue is that I wish it was longer! I would've loved like a song or two more because it's just that solid! Go listen to this right now!!!
Seriously underrated. One most joyful projects I’ve heard this year so far. There’s a childlike wonder I feel when listening to this that is extremely difficult to pull off effectively but they do it so well. Highly highly recommend!!
this song is so bad and unfunny but the phrase "Spongebob Big Guy Pants Okay" makes me burst out laughing
Tried a few times to get into Stomach Book, because I really like her song Animals. But I could never properly get into it until I decided to give this a listen out of the blue. And I really enjoyed it! I think it strikes that balance of wonky and chaos pretty well for a majority of the record. I think it works best in the opener, FUKUONA GIRL. Which has this beat that is just doing whatever the fuck it wants while the vocals are mostly pretty reserved. It’s a good mix. Will be returning ... read more
TM is a super weak epilogue to the previous album. Feels empty and missing something. A funny thing I noticed too was how much they were talking about making money on here when Kevin Abstract was talking about how toxic that was on The Family lol. At least MAN ON THE MOON is good I guess.
The Family, while very very rough around the edges, is a pretty great sendoff to the band. It's like a breakup album in a sense.
Kinda wish IF YOU PRAY RIGHT had a version that removed the long outro. Felt a bit unnecessary. Might be my favourite album from the group though.
Dudeeeeeee she's been dropping elite shit lately. Love the video for this too.
I like the one where she counts to eleven I’ve never been able to do that so I’m glad Mitski can help me out.
Feels like it’s missing a lot of the fun production elements from earlier projects. Bit barebones.
I think it’s cool that Baby Keem is trying different things out on this project. I like the weird vocal inflections. Probably will grow on me more as I listen. The production is mostly pretty solid. But I think some things just weigh it down. I didn’t like any of the features. In fact Kendrick I think was the worst on here. His verse sure was something I guess! A lot of the fun tracks I feel were missing something. Sometimes stuff just felt like it didn’t gel together. I hope ... read more
