‘The Family’ was the album the band needed, and ‘TM’ feels like a classic BROCKHAMPTON record. Immaculate production, genre shapeshifting, and some of the cleanest verses from the group in quite some time.

TM would have received all the immediate attention as the "final Brockhampton album" -- since they got at least more than one member on the tracks -- leaving Kevin Abstract's reflective solo joint The Family as a bittersweet epilogue to Brockhampton's brief but eye-popping moment in the sun. Instead, an otherwise solid LP got lost in the shuffle, treated more as a footnote than a true parting statement.

I've always loved BROCKHAMPTON, which is why I've put off listening to this album for so long. Truthfully, I avoided this album to protect my idea of them as a group.

For a long time, BROCKHAMPTON existed in my mind as this specific feeling: chaotic, ambitious, imperfect...but alive. Their best music carried this sense of momentum that few other discographies did.

TM is not good. It's definitely not horrible—there are good moments, and sometimes you see glimpses of what ... read more

If The Family looks like a posthumous album, then TM is in no doubt the usual cash grab that direspects any artist's or band's legacy.
