Hard to not mention the later works of Mark Kozelek to measure this singer-songwriter record, and that's because he does it better. Bill Callahan is wonderfully entertaining in his recollections and ruminations on getting old, while pleasant and well engineered/arranged americana beckons us into his mind.
Leaving a review since it's terribly slept on. Most amitious and completed work by this modern cloud rap collective, to date. One of the few instances of aiming for the 2018-19 Bladee sound which doesn't fall on its face, and even saying that feels like doing the artists a disservice. Really catchy, these people clearly know how to work together to make some great-sounding tracks.
Wallsocket is a pretty damn good album, and with that said this one blows it out of the water. Water-tight, immaculately produced, impactful, bouncy, relentlessly entertaining and gorgeously sequenced.
Spiteful and lifeloving. Even better when you know what's being said on the tracks
Some of his most ethereal and immersive sounds since Garden of Delete. The sequencing of the tracklist was a bit jarring at points, but the music itself is consistently engaging, impressive and beautiful.
