This album is not very good. Now I understand it's easy to say "It's not as good as their original stuff," especially when talking about Weezer, but this is not a good album by any real standard.

When it comes to Weezer, I am not the hugest fan. I do love the Blue Album, Pinkerton is really good, and while it is easy to say they lost their way after those two albums, I would argue that they have had their shining moments in last couple years, most notably with the white album. Skillet is not a bad band. I believe they have a lot of merit, especially when it comes to their primary industry, that being Christian music. Their heavily marketable brand of pop and hard rock, while not great all of the time, could certainly be considered many people's introduction to rock and even metal. Usually those are the kind of people who think rock music is also Satan, but I digress.

What a crazed and harrowing musical experience, that further solidifies Xiu Xiu as one of the most unique, and terrifying, acts in musical history.

This project is the culmination of so many different people giving a massive middle finger to the entire music industry. This is the record that got me into Swans in the first place. It creates an uncompromisingly heavy atmosphere, and does not let up on that aesthetic at all.

From the second the album begins, it does everything it can to ward of the unwilling, with a single cord being repeated over and over, with plucky strings and strange vocals making their way into the mix.
