Used to watch this dudes commentary vids back in 2019 and I was a fan back then. I am not a fan of his music tho, I respect the approach I just find his music uninspiring. My main critique is that most of the songs seem more like short sketches and TikTok bait rather than actual songs.
Very surreal and hypnotic ambience. Listening to this is what I imagine first landing on mars sounds like.
Woah! I would've never expected Vince Staples to drop a rock album and actually have it be peak! I usually don't like political albums at all but the way Vince portrays racism, inequality, violence, and corruption is rather powerful and interesting instead of corny. The blend of rock and west coast hip hop goes hard and compliments well with what Vince has to say.
Definitely not a great first impression on Lupe's music. With the exception of a couple of good tracks, most of this album sounds like middle school PE core.
It's insane how Jpeg was making music this good without getting any recognition. The sampling and overall production is incredible, The cloud rap and vaporwave elements makes for an ethereal and vibey listening experience. Jpeg flows so well over these beats and brings charismatic lyricism that really lets his personality shine throughout this project. This is a fantastic, must listen to project if you are a fan of hip hop or experimental rap. There's a reason why I base my ... read more
Pretty disappointing. Could very well be the worst album in his discography, even if you count his albums under the alias "Devon Hendryx". The way him and Earl we're going back and forth made me think this album was gonna be generational, but no. I wouldn't say he missed with this album but it definitely isn't great either. A good portion of this project just sounds like ILDMLFY throw aways and Peggy doesn't try any new unique approaches despite the album literally ... read more
Possibly Drake's best album this decade, and his most consistent work in a while. Don't get me wrong there are still some filler tracks, which is kinda inevitable when it comes to a modern Drake album. But there are some intriguing tracks on here where Drake actually sounds passionate and rapping with actually something interesting to say. At times him reflecting back to the whole rap beef in 2024 is a little corny and seems like he's dragging it on longer than it needs to. But ... read more
If this dude took himself seriously then he would be one of the best experimental artists out there. His creativity is insane and pushes out good ideas, but he doesn't execute them to it's fullest potential. The different blending of genres throughout the project was insane. It made it so after every track you wouldn't know what to expect next. From hard electronic dance music, to ethereal cloud rap, to harsh experimental rap, to melodic performances. This album really has it ... read more
