Get a great feeling that I "had to be there," because a lot of this reads as a less interesting version of a plethora of different artists. It's funny because the first one that comes to mind is Neutral Milk Hotel, how this is a more direct version of ITAOTS and in turn was a whole lot more successful, and that album was already "there" when this came out! Pretty amazing! Kind of banger after banger for most of the tracklist, and the more personal straightforward songs don't hinder the experience like is so often the case on pop albums! Kinda stinks how tracks 10-12 are just not strong whatsoever, but Freak It closes out the album and is no doubt my favourite song here so it's fine. WOOOOOOOOOO!!!!
This album is so gargantuan I can't help but be awestruck by it conceptually. Seeing that beautiful cover just stirs something within me. Production wise this album is a technical marvel. What other album sounds like this??? Keep on thinking about that Pitchfork review quote saying that this is when Vampire Weekend became a "primary source," which is just such a good way of putting it.
