very simple with some nice bits. Not bad, just not my music and doesn't give me anything to keep me listening.
Such a great record, I keep coming back over and over again. Not even a big fan of Paramore’s early albums, this is just a new style for them that fits effortlessly. No skips, Thick Skull might be their best song
The Strokes make their most consistent album in almost 20 years, and evolve their sound as they do it. This is what got me into the band, and still holds up quite well.
Probably their worst song, a solid effort, a great tune, and a lesser version of the second track.
This could have been their best since ROF if they had interest to spend time engineering and mixing tracks. Unfortunately, we are left with some good songs that will probably never reach their full potential. Not everything on this album is good, but most of it is fine.
underrated. People don't talk about this enough. I mean it's not their best, but why does Comedown machine have more fans? Love the energy and experimentation. Gratification is up there with Machu Picchu and Under Cover of Darkness.
one of the most inconsistent albums I have ever heard. Great tracks like YOLO, Razorblade, Ize Of The World, but also some of the worst that The Strokes ever released: Ask me anything, 15 minutes, on the other side. Also the production is pretty grading on lead vocals, luckily the instruments still sound good most of the time.
Goes down easy, felt it more this listen than I had previously. Still not as good as their first, but with some slightly better produced greats. Sometimes gets bit too pessimistic for my taste, but ends spectacularly which makes up for it. I have learned that The Way It Is is not a skip.
This sounds like The Amazing Digital Circus. This sounds like Gorillaz's Plastic Beach iced with The Mountain if it were made on Tumblr. A very internet-y sounding album. Love the eclectic sound, but don't always feel the intention. Like the internet, it does a lot but never really digs deep in my opinion. There is a lot of emotional tones here, but not emotion feels. Love the concept and the narrative, especially the first three songs. I see why it is loved, but I understand why it ... read more
more consistent than I remember, but not as impactful as I have felt with it in the past. Still good.
fantastic album, absolute classic. Good with When it started and New York City Cops. The first side is flawless.
The Gorillaz effect is an experience a listener has on their music. At first it is odd and too much at once to possible comprehend everything that is happening to your ears. But as you listen more, you begin to pick apart the song and respect how each sound was implemented into the overall tune. After a while the song you didn't like has now become one of your favorites, thus the Gorillaz effect. (Or just getting used to it in simple terms).
This album more than any of their past work ... read more
A solid indie rock effort, very reminiscent of the early 2000's and acts like Paramore, Panic! At The Disco, and lots of other alt-rock bands that made waves following The Strokes debut in 2001.
This album doesn't have enough of its own personality to really differentiate itself from the others of the period, but still sounds really good. The second half especially was great. My faves were: This Modern Love, Price of Gasoline, So Here We Are, and Little Thoughts.

A nice calm jam, this is my third full listen. Jesus Etc hit me a lot more, but Pot Kettle Black and Poor Places are pretty great too. More my thing, but not something I would regularly seek out. still neat.
The highs here are not as impactful as the first album, but they feel more personalized by the band. I prefer the production on this album and like their sound a lot more with less traditional pop aesthetics. Not as many great tunes, but more of my type of thing and still good time. I really like This is The Killer Speaking, I hold your Anger, Sail Away, and The Scythe. I hope they continue down this path and find more of their own unique sound.
Florence and The Machine + Lana Del Ray + Strings + James Ford = This album.
Pretty nice poppy album, lot of great tunes. Sinner, nothing matters, portrait of a dead girl all really nice. The orchestral into is a nice touch, but the album doesn't really pick up for me until The Feminine Urge. Overall good, but a little to pop centric for my taste. Respect to the band.
Almost gaslit myself into thinking it was a good album, when I stopped paying attention. Focused more on a second listen, and yeah, it is a lot of middle of the road quality. Very plain, but still upbeat and danceable with very few great highlights. Although, honestly not as bad as I remember, it's not great but mostly harmless. Except for the fact that I feel this goes against the original manifesto of Gorillaz and is making exactly what the industry is, but who am I to make that ... read more
underrated album, more people need to realize its greatness compared to the other pre-mountain, post hiatus era of Gorillaz. string of amazing tunes, and when the songs aren't great they are at least still produced well with interesting sounds that keeps the listener engaged through the entire runtime. Even the mostly lesser bonus tracks are worth repeated listen.
The complete opposite from their last album. One of their most consistent, a little too cleanly produced, and maybe boring for some at times. Although, if you like this style of music, like me, this is a treat. Probably the most nostalgia I have for an album.
