Metallica - Enter Sandman

See, as a Gen Zer, growing up on the radio and only really listening to music from there, everyone saying this song is overplayed means nothing to me. The only thing that gets me is that I feel Kirk doesn’t have much of a contribution to this song or on the other Metallica song I’ve heard, Master of Puppets. He wrote the main riff of course but- actually never mind, go off king. Regardless, James Hetfield seems like he would be overqualified as a lead guitarist on any other band, ... read more

Kanye West - Yeezus

I’ll just name the things I didn’t love because that would be a lot easier than going into detail about what makes this album so good. The album falls off in momentum a bit on the quieter moments, like Kanye’s verses on I Am A God and I’m In It, especially after the swelling production on the former and Assassin’s explosive performance on the latter. Album needed more Assassin just in general. Also Bound 2 is kinda overrated, not sure how it’s rated above ... read more

Korn - Freak on a Leash

Not in love with the chorus or initial breakdown. The verses and pre-chorus are great though and the bridge is fairly standard nu-metal (so quite enjoyable in other words).

Snoop Dogg - Gin and Juice

With my mind on my money and my money on my mind…that mean I think about the money, and the money think about me

M.I.A. - Paper Planes

Something cataclysmically satisfying about those gunshots.

Kendrick Lamar - King Kunta

That solo might have been the greatest of all time

Linkin Park - In the End

Unironically good. That piano is really cool, the rapping is actually super clean, Chester’s singing was as good as ever, and the overall production is just really nice. I love it when he holds the note into the pre-chorus- damn he was a good singer. These songs hold up because of how fucking good at singing he was.

The Notorious B.I.G. - Mo Money Mo Problems

If you just pretend Mase has two verses then the song’s a 10/10. It’s amazing how Diddy got so influential within hip-hop despite having the weakest track presence ever. That being said Mase slid and obviously Biggie went on his usual rampages.

Never has being cucked been so- this joke was dead in the water before it even hatched. Song is good, end of story.

Nirvana - Endless, Nameless

Why isn’t this on the Nevermind tracklist?

Deftones - Mein

The drums are very SOAD. Oh and Serj is here too. I would’ve loved a proper duet like Passenger but song is still great obviously

Carly Rae Jepsen - Run Away with Me

I love how this is not only one of the greatest pop songs ever but it still ended up being a meme like the first song that blew her up. It's not Call Me Maybe is a shit song that happened to get memed, that song is also great, but while the meme here is a little weaker, the song itself is, again, one of the greatest pop songs ever. Colossal Ws for pop's hidden queen.

Love those guitars on the post chorus. I woulda given my number to the guy too

“Mom can we have Kid A?”

“No we have Kid A at home”

Kid A at home:

Of course, the reason it’s called Kid A is because Bjork is Mother. Bjork perfects the balance between some truly grimy trip hop, bordering on industrial, and gorgeous string compositions lifted straight out of a John Williams score.

What’s amazing is that it’s not half trip hop and half art pop, but each song (except for the last two) are perfect merges of both. The last two are the ... read more

Gorillaz - El Mañana

Rating is mostly because of the lore. Incredible song regardless but the lore really pushes it over the edge

Daft Punk - Face to Face
NR

So we’re rating this highly just because of the sampling? Because I find the song itself to be just ok.

Lauryn Hill - Ex-Factor

That outro might be the greatest climax of a song I’ve ever heard

Radiohead - Creep

Easily the worst song of all time.

Radiohead - The Bends
99

Love the energy and creative choices, like Jonny’s impossible bend and the guitars dropping out on the post-chorus on this one. A good ol' “all three boys” track is sure to deliver and this one also comes with a genuinely breathtaking outro. It almost doesn’t feel like a Radiohead song (pretentious I know) with the really confident sounding production until you listen to the lyrics. Overall great
