Black Country, New Road, for such a young group, accomplishes unprecedented things with this LP. Dropping this masterpiece and having frontman Isaac Wood immediately leave is akin to an NFL quarterback going undefeated in his second season and just retiring on the spot. Perfection
Laufey brings a very old style to the new generation with this one. All in all, this is a great traditional pop record, and despite being a very tried and true sound, it stands out as a refreshing change of pace amongst modern popular music. The influences are clear but the album keeps from being too derivative of any one traditional artist. My personal favorite tracks are "While You Were Sleeping" and "From The Start."
Mitski makes a triumphant return to her lush singer-songwriter sound with The Land Is Inhospitable and So Are We. This project has several tracks that could easily turn into new quintessential staples. Tracks like Heaven and My Love Mine All Mine are perfect examples of peak Mitski. This is a fantastic album and it could even grow on me with more time.
This is a great LP that literally grew on me as I listened to it to the point that I immediately listened through another time after finishing it. James Blake returns to his roots in combination with his seasoned artistry and it amounts to this great electronic record. Many of his most hardcore fans will consider this a masterpiece and I predict this project will age well. As of writing, this is a very underrated LP.
