Reminds me of 1901-era Phoenix. I also first heard this at a Ron Jon's store while meeting my best internet friend for the first time IRL on my Cocoa Beach vacation this year.
Yeah, you bet this is a 100.
Just randomly thought of this song and how AWESOME it is. It's basically three pop songs in one and it's amazing.
I'm kinda disappointed Jellyfish's "Ignorance is Bliss" didn't make an appearance in the Mario movie, but Jack Black singing is always nice, so this'll do.
"It's the 21st of December, now they're ringing the last bells..."
Well it just felt like a good time to shout-out one of my personal favorite Christmas songs I've discovered lately. This song has a really unique subject for a Christmas song - it's sung from the viewpoint of somebody who just got imprisoned, writing his brother a letter talking about how he won't be able to make it home for Christmas. There's a lot of details regarding his family and condition and it's all super ... read more
How well I enjoy this song per year really REALLY depends on whether I am in the mood for it or not... and given Christmas just hasn't been my season for years now, it's the latter a lot of the time. But when I am in the mood for it, I agree that this song slaps super hard and has an incredible chorus and melody.
Yes, it's easy to mock this song for being a "WGWAG" ballad and for how overplayed it was back in the late 2000s. But fuck it, this song just gives me a major nostalgia bomb whenever I hear it, it makes me feel 7 years old again, a time when I didn't have a single care to worry about.
Bought this album when I was 7 off the strength of "Hey There Delilah", and hearing "Our Time Now" on iCarly. This is probably just my nostalgia talking, but honestly this is a solid pop punk/"mall emo" album all the way through.
I am very torn on this album. On one hand, it does have a bunch of highlights, and when it's good, it's REALLY good. But on the other hand, there are some songs that REALLY could've been shitcanned without losing anything (seriously, why does something like "Gary's Got a Boner" share album space with "I Will Dare" and "Androgynous"??). This one may have more obvious highlights, but overall, I feel like Tim and Pleased to Meet Me are the better and more consistent ... read more
True story - this song came out when I was 5, and i once sang this out loud at preschool.
One of the most overblown and ridiculous songs ever made, and Richard sings lyrics about cake being left in the rain and "striped (pronounced "stry-pid") pairs of pants" with absolute sincerity.
And I love every damn minute of it.
Here's an example of a song that I swear was a massive, inescapable hit, but in reality must've only gotten big airplay in my state (Minnesota) because it was only a major hit on the rock/alternative charts. Which is weird because I swear even the pop stations played this song, though that might be me misremembering (Cities 97 used to be a pure alternative station before going pop).
Anyway this is a fun and nostalgic power pop banger with a great chorus. The Kaiser Chiefs get unfairly shat on ... read more
One of my favorite My Chemical Romance songs. Odd they decided to release this under a different band name, and ESPECIALLY odd that Gerard Way decided to credit himself as the Morbius guy, but whatever, still a good song from them.
