After liking "Data Doom" as much as I did when it came out in 2023, I was really hoping that FATWF’s next album wouldn’t disappoint. And my dreams came true, because "Trash Classic" fucking rocks. It takes everything that makes Frankie good and turns it up to 11—fuzzy guitars, frenetic vocals, and a vibe that just makes you want to get up and jump around like a lunatic. It almost makes me sad knowing that this album probably won’t get the recognition ... read more
I was really looking forward to this album after hearing the singles, and I’m happy to say it didn’t disappoint. It feels like a modern take on 2000s contemporary R&B, and it works beautifully. The album balances upbeat, danceable moments with more relaxed, mellow tracks. While a couple of songs fall into the 'only okay' category, overall, "Addison" is a strong debut.
I remember hearing this album for the first time around the time of its release, blasting through the speakers at my local HMV and thinking, "What the hell is this?!" Nowadays, I wouldn’t have had the restraint I did back then—I would’ve bought the CD there and then. Instead, I went home, fired up Apple Music, and listened to one of the best alternative rock albums of the year. Thick guitars, versatile vocals that somehow sound both angry and heavenly, and awesome ... read more
This is my first impression of Shura's work. Judging by the reviews and tags for her previous releases, this album marks quite a departure from both her debut and second record. Six years after the latter, she delivers some beautifully artsy indie pop—at times chill, at times deeply melancholy. Her vocals are stunning, the instrumentation leans toward typical indie-folk, yet a handful of tracks incorporate alternative elements, subtly nodding to her electronic roots. Overall, a very ... read more
Bleed from Within aren't reinventing the wheel with this album, but that they offer is really solid, groovy and melodic metal core that definitely scratches the itch for 2000s era melodic metal core fans.
Yuele is BACK with what has to be their most pop-centric LP to date. It still has their signature noisy rock sound, but with a poppy undertone, like a continuation of what Softscars offered. It starts off good, and ends great. I just wish it had a few more tracks like the title track.
Some big standouts here, but also a few mid tracks. I'd love to hear something more substantial from colin! because there is some really good jazz rap here, especially towards the end of this project.
"Dreaming in Colour" is a vibrant, funky joyride. The grooves hit just right, and the production is slick and polished—everything feels fresh and full of life. It's the kind of album that instantly lifts your mood.
You know Jimi and co were on another level when their worst album is still absolutely mind-blowing.
What an incredibly cohesive debut album from this duo. The production is high-quality and retro, the flows are excellent, and the hooks are super catchy. Honestly, it sounds like a classic cut from 20 years ago—and I mean that in the best way possible.
[1000th Rating!]
And this is their debut EP? Holy shit!
Absolutely top-class art rock—dynamic, emotive, beautiful, and angry all at once. The production is fantastic. My only complaint? I wish there was more!
"Spilt Milk" is a very interesting album. It's not afraid to show off its influences, with many passages reminding me of 60s baroque pop from bands like The Beatles, The Zombies, and The Beach Boys, as well as some progressive elements like Queen. But it's also not afraid to delve into sounds of the future, with an overall sound and feel that is very mid-noughties, reminding me of artists like Mika and even a bit of Sara Bareilles. It feels like one of those albums that was ... read more
"City of Clowns" is an extremely varied album, taking you from one extreme to the other. Some tracks lean into ambient, minimal chill electronica, while others explode into furious acid-techno. One moment, it's essentially modern Kraftwerk; the next, it's modern Aphex Twin—and I am here for it. "Contrarian" might stand as one of my favourite tracks of 2025. The only song that didn’t grab me as much was "Demolition"—not a bad track by any ... read more
Another interesting EP from the duo. I thought Matt's vocal contributions were really good, and reminded me quite a bit of Tame Impala. Personally, "Neon" is the weakest track here, which is just decent instead of good or great. Overall, another great EP with plenty of tracks that I will revisit.
As far as debut EPs go, this one is particularly interesting to me. I got into MB through their 2024 output, so it's fascinating to see where it all began. Mica's vocals sound so different here. Still, it's incredibly good and catchy synth-pop, especially the first two tracks.
Super enjoyable, with some top-tier Magdalena Bay tracks, alongside a few that share the same issues as "Mix 1"—they're just a bit too short.
I wish some of these songs saw full-length versions, because they're all really good and then kinda stop, but I guess that's the point of a mini mixtape.
Must-listen Italian disco from a collective most people have not heard of outside of this album's lead single "San Salvador"
Simbi delivers a ferocious flow throughout "GREY Area," weaving deep, introspective, razor-shrap lyrics into bold, unconventional instrumentation.
