A great collection of Beatles oldies... I guess it does exactly what it says on the tin.
How can 1 song have the best drum intro AND best guitar intro at once?
It would be safe to call Small Changes a scaled-down version of KIWANUKA. The album feels like a quieter, more personal companion to its predecessor, trading grand arrangements for a smaller, more intimate sound. Most of the tracks are understated and reflective, though there are a couple of nods to the cinematic style of KIWANUKA.
As always, Kiwanuka’s songwriting is excellent, with melodies that feel heartfelt. The lyrics are thoughtful and reflective, and the production, while ... read more
Jazzy and very noisy post rock. A strong debut EP. I'm interested to see how they can develop this sound further.
Listening to this album is a bit of an endurance test at 105 minutes in length. With that said, it's 100% worth listening to. Whilst I think some of the songs overstay their welcome a little bit, the overall quality is so extremely high that it didn't surprise me that SITKOL has gained the reputation it has. Wonder really was on top form here.
It's great to see the duo back again in full form. Amazing work from both Rob and Andrew, culminating in what surely has to be their most well-rounded album in a while
There's a raw (no pun intended) feel to this album that I really like.
Absolutely amazing deconstructed club vibes. Those drums at the start gave me some heavy SOPHIE vibes, but twigs' vocal delivery made the track her own.
Poppy's 6th album is a very strong and diverse offering packed to the brim with catchy vocals and super heavy moments. I was truly blown away by some of the heaviest moments in this album and they really work well in juxtaposition with tracks like "crystalized". She's a fascinating artist to listen to.
An absolutely amazing mixture of hard rock and folk rock culminating in a really interesting album that couldn't have come out at any other time aside from the 1970s, and I mean that in the best way.
Honestly, I wasn't sure if I was going to like this album. I'm a big Beatles fan but have never done a dive into much of their post-Beatles work.
Yoko especially has been devisive for me, with some true peaks and troughs in her image as an Avant-garde multimedia artist.
But Double Fantasy is great. Sure, it doesn't have the peaks that I hoped for, but it also doesn't have the lows I dreaded. It's truly good, with some truly great elements scattered throughout. Give it ... read more
Heavy, and full of despair. It's not quite on that top tier, but it's still a great listen.
"Closer" is a key album in post-punk. The later tracks, like "The Eternal" and "Twenty Four Hours," are especially strong. It's not perfect, but it helped shape the 80s music scene.
Eazy Peazy is a pretty decent debut EP that delves into various post-punk and alternative rock styles. Man/Woman/Chainsaw draw from a wide range of influences, achieving mixed success across the tracks. In a longer effort, I'd like to see more in the same style of the last 3 tracks.
Weirdly feels like the perfect music to back the life of a little leaf floating along a calming stream.
