I don't think I've listened to an album where I've just felt so indifferent. It's not good; it's not bad. It's just... fine, I suppose. It really lacks anything distinctive, which is funny when RAYE is now known as one of the more recognisable artists in pop.
Ana Frango Elétrico's sophomore LP is a whimsical samba/jazz pop blast that does its best to lift your spirits and succeeds.
I don’t really understand the comparisons to Ninajirachi here, because Petalbyte isn’t standing in anyone’s shadow with this beautiful glitch pop album. Its production is so brilliantly digital it feels almost like it was crafted by some kind of cyborg. It’s energetic yet emotive at the same time. The last half is definitely the best half of the album, but there isn't a single bad moment here.
Fcukers keep it fairly straightforward on this debut LP, but the result is a tight 11-track album with plenty of quality and no real downsides. The quality does fluctuate a little, but that’s between decent and great rather than bad and okay. There’s certainly room to grow, but I’ll also admit that a handful of these tracks made it onto my dance-pop playlist and will get plenty of airtime in my car over the summer.
Once again, my complete ignorance to non-English music strikes again. I’m not even fully sure I knew who Jorge Ben was before I listened to this album, but I’m hooked off the back of this album.
It’s just so warm and soothing. It’s perfect vibe to just chill to on a warm night with a nice drink. Each song breezes by, but not in a way that makes the songs feel to brief. His vocals are excellent, the guitar work is beautiful, and the production – whilst definitely ... read more
It should come as no surprise to anyone that when you get some of Cuba’s best musicians together to work on some of Cuba’s best jazz, that you get an essential Cuban jazz album. I’m so glad that I stumbled upon this gem. It’s just so beautiful.
When I first heard that CAVS was coming out with a new album, I was pretty certain that I wouldn't bother listening to it because I'm simply not a fan of someone just twatting drums for 45 minutes, regardless of how virtuous it may be.
However, from the moment that 'Candiru' dropped, I knew that I'd judged too soon.
Now, on one of the first summer-y days that the UK has seen this year, I’m sitting listening to tropical, psychedelic vibes, beautiful ... read more
It would be fair to say that my history with Yves' music has been a little mixed, with me liking some of her work and being lukewarm on others. However, I'm pleased to say that I really enjoyed this little EP.
It's a little bit different from her previous works and I really liked this change. It's definitely following the current EDM zeitgeist with a modern-meets-classic sound that in some instances doesn't feel too dissimilar from artists like OKLOU, which I hope ... read more
In a world where some of the best alt rock bands of the 2000s are struggling to put out quality albums, it's nice to know that you can always rely on Tigercub to pick up where they left off with some incredibly good alternative rock numbers. I don't think the production is quite as good as their previous album, and the riffs aren't quite as instantly memorable, but it's still bloody good, especially if you're dying to hear more 2000s-tinged alt rock.
What explosive, colourful and energetic hyperpop project. tsubi club isn't afraid to wear some of their indietronica influences on their sleeve, but they present it in a new, slightly crunchier wrapper. It definitely helped to lift my spirits on a Monday morning.
This album is just indie rock summery vibes. The band continue where they left off on 2024's debut with indie pop rock bangers with plenty of synth integration. It's just really bloody good fun.
After suffering a slight blunder with her previous album, Arlo Park is back with the same quality that gained her debut its success. Really well-mixed, with smooth and beautiful vocals. I think the first half is the best, with a couple of middling tracks in the final half, but overall, it's good to see Arlo back making beautiful bedroom pop bangers.
Men are really going to have to step up their game, because the ✨pop girlies✨ are absolutely killing it this year. Tiffany Day's sophomore release is a versatile collection of electropop bangers with the odd indietronica number here and there. Everything is quality, and with how much variety there is, it never gets dull. 2026 is turning into a little bit of a sleeper year.
Angine de Poitrine are back again with another album, this time with way more hype and way more of a fan base behind them compared to their debut. And you can count me as one of those fans because this absolutely shreds. It's definitely experimental, but in a way that anyone whose even slightly into prog will be able to at least appreciate. The energy is as raw as the production, but there are a couple of tracks that just run on a little bit for my taste.
A fun little vibe. This is sounding like it's gonna be a great album to get some work done to.
It's been a longer wait than most years, but I think we finally have an album that I could see as my AOTY. Absolutely incredible electroclash that you just can't help but scrunch up your face and jump along to. Honestly, even the chiller tracks are head-boppers. And the production throughout is just so damn clean. It's phat when it needs to be but clears up nicely when the song requires. I'll be spinning this many, many more times throughout 2026 and beyond...
