twenty one pilots - City Walls
100

usually don't rate singles but saw this one was at risk of falling out of the top 500 and like come on. this song is incredible.

Quadeca - Dark Magic
84

I don't know what to say. I'm genuinely saddened by the fact that Quadeca has released mid for the first time since 2021. Haunt You into Scrapyard into Vanisher was an incredible run and I mean it had to end somewhere. I just didn't think life 1 was going to be where it ended. The fact that this is sitting at an 88 just proves that, and I say this as a Quadeca meat rider, Quadeca meat riders refuse to accept that this song was just alright.

Alright by Quadeca's standards, ... read more

The Strokes - Falling out of Love
69

Generational fall off coming June 26. Still seeing them live though because their first three albums + New Abnormal are straight heat and nothing can change that.

Update: grew on me drastically. I did not think this was going to happen.

Ethel Cain - Nettles
100

Hayden locked in for this one song but the rest of this album is so disappointingly mid. When I heard this I wondered where it has been all my life and whether I had been wrong about 2025's AOTY all along. No, I was right. While this song in isolation is better than any one song on either Vanisher or Racing Mount Pleasant self titled, it is such an outlier in Ethel Cain's discography as a whole. The last minute may genuinely be the single most beautiful minute of music ever recorded ... read more

Malcolm Todd - I Saw Your Face
90

I considered giving this a 70 or a 75 or something like that but then I realized I was doing this thing I always do where I rate songs or albums based on a rigid scale of 1-10 where 10 is absolute perfection. Sometimes I need to realize, especially with songs and with artists like Malcolm Todd, that they're trying to make some fun music, not any crazy masterpieces. With that being said, this is peak Malcolm, wow. That chorus goes incredibly hard.

The 1975 - A Brief Inquiry Into Online Relationships
88

In a way, this album feels like Infinite Jest.
Even without considering the obvious and explicit connection between A Brief Inquiry Into Online Relationships and DFW's mammoth masterpiece through the track "Surrounded by Heads and Bodies" the themes throughout, and the overall vibe that is given, are just so similar. Healy's addiction and sobriety, the vastness of the work itself, the various disparate sounds and moods and lyrical themes that have nothing to do with each ... read more

Joji - Piss In The Wind
79

This album is really something else. Solely due to its novelty do I rate this album as high as I have. Some of the songs do just feel unfinished though, as others have said. With that being said, some of these songs, even the ones shorter than two minutes, are really solid, really catchy and great little vignettes. Frankly, I love this style of album, and I've never seen an album of this style laid out in this way. Instead of ten longer songs, we get twenty-one short songs, each with its ... read more

NF - FEAR
75

As much as I hate to jump on the hate train for a guy that is already hated by nearly everyone in the music reviewing world, NF's raps have consistently been ear-bleeding material. Even I can admit that. But that all changed, at least in my opinion, with the release of HOPE. NF's music went from feeling like a sad attempt at a lyrically clean Eminem replica to a development of his own versatile and melodic style with the release of his most recent LP, and this trend is absolutely ... read more

The Last Dinner Party - From the Pyre
62

Don't get me wrong, I love The Scythe, but for some reason that I can't explain, The Last Dinner Party just doesn't do it for me. The music just feels so hollow and lifeless nine times out of ten, which is especially disappointing when you consider this band has five members. Black Country, New Road makes this style of music better, and it's not even close. Whatever secret sauce these girls put into Nothing Matters, Caesar on a TV Screen, Sinner and The Scythe needs to ... read more

Racing Mount Pleasant - Racing Mount Pleasant
95

It's hard to review this album without comparing it to a certain 2022 masterpiece with an airplane on the cover, but the similarities so add up. With that being said, Racing Mount Pleasant are not just the world's second best BC,NR tribute act, but something different entirely, something capable of matching or even surpassing the magic of Ants.

UPDATED REVIEW: This album gets better with every listen, and wow. On my SECOND day of discovering this album exists, I had to raise my score ... read more

Quadeca - Vanisher, Horizon Scraper
95

WE SCRAPING OUR HORIZONS WITH THIS ONE!!!!!!!

There is NOTHING that can be said about this album that hasn't already been said by the thousands of other reviews, but I'll try to make this review at least somewhat interesting. In this review I really feel the need to talk about the insane score that Vanisher, Horizon Scraper has on this site. This level of glaze rivals even TPAB, except for one main difference: it's actually deserved in this instance. There are many reasons as to ... read more

MGMT - Congratulations
87

Such a weird album, but such a good one. Not quite as good as Loss of Life, but songs like "Song for Dan Treacy" and "Flash Delirium", the latter of which I unironically consider to be one of the greatest songs of all time, make up for some of the songs I don't really like on this album, like "It's Working", which isn't really working for me. Also, Siberian Breaks is easily the highlight of this album, being 12 minutes long and all. Luckily, unlike ... read more

I DONT KNOW HOW BUT THEY FOUND ME - GLOOM DIVISION
61

I'm sorry, but Gloom Division is AGGRESSIVELY mid. I love GLOOMTOWN BRATS, as I've met quite a few Gloomtown Brats myself. DOWNSIDE is also a good, catchy song and SPKOTHDVL as well. Even so, these highlights are only "good", not anything amazing. And, as much as I hate to say it, most of the other tracks are just filler. A critic score of 78 on this one is honestly pretty sad, considering it's rated higher than the entirety of Glass Animals' discography, which is ... read more

Bon Iver - For Emma, Forever Ago
99

So, yeah. Wow.

If you would have asked me who Bon Iver was a month ago, I would have probably answered with "who? That "Living on a Prayer" guy?" In my defence, they're both Bons. Now, I forgot exactly how I ended up stumbling across "For Emma, Forever Ago" one afternoon, but I decided to click on the first song, titled "Flume". This is where I get to the first of many moments where Justin Vernon just amazes me over the course of this record, in the ... read more

The 1975 - Being Funny in a Foreign Language
90

LFS(TL) is the most relatable song of the 2020s

EDIT: 81 -> 86

EDIT: 86 -> 89 - I might just be a sucker for violins and saxophones, but wow, this album just hits different. The 1975 have always been a "hit and miss" band, but this album is gold.

EDIT: 89 -> 90 - Matty Healy just removed "Human Too" from the album? This is honestly unheard of, I've never heard of deleting a song from an album three years later. With that being said, Human Too was the worst ... read more

boybestfriend - Isotope
73

Aggregate of scores from my friends who listened to this album. (It's mine.)

Beck - Mutations
93

This album really didn't do anything groundbreaking, it doesn't give me chills or make me cry, but "Mutations" is special to me because I listen to it every time I go on vacations, on long drives, and it's been that way for as long as I can remember. Even if I didn't have that connection to it, it would still be Beck's masterpiece, simply due to the fact that each song sounds so different, but yet no song sounds like it doesn't belong on the album (bar ... read more

Lukas Graham - 7 Years
97

"7 Years" might be the single most baselessly shit on song in music history. You're telling me that everything Kendrick Lamar drops is god-tier, but this masterpiece deserves a 20?!

Everyone's heard it. "Once I was 7 years old". It's quite the ubiquitous line, it's up there with the "Do I Wanna Know?" guitar riff or the Jaws notes. I only ever knew 2 things about this song, that line and the fact that it apparently sucked osmium balls. That is, ... read more

Black Country, New Road - Forever Howlong
94

INITIAL REVIEW: As amazing as the highs are, I am leaving a lower review simply because of the long stretches during this album where the music is just droning on, and the moments where it should pick up, but it just doesn't. The best example of this is the end of the first Socks chorus ("Our life holds a light no life has held before") where the beat should have dropped (and DID in the live version), but it waited 4 more bars to do so. Why? With this being said, NTTTTN, FTCC, ... read more
