From what this album taught me, Isaac Wood doesn't like anyone eating toast in his bed, and honestly, that's a completely valid take.
Black Country, New Road is a group I've been meaning to listen to for a while, especially hearing the amazing response so many listeners had to it. Needless to say, I was very much excited to sink my teeth into this album and experience something I expected to probably be one of the best album releases of the modern era. I love the ideas this album explores, ... read more
AKRaca's natural progression of an artist is unmatched. From their first critically acclaimed LP, their Avant Grande sound has expanded leaps and bounds, with tasteful influences from glitchcore, and the depths of the underground scene.
Among Change It is a cathartic release of the pent up emotions from the digitization of the modern world. Its glitchy soundscape, with repeating AI vocals is an expression, a metaphor of the state of our current world and generation. This EP opens up ... read more
I've heard a lot of good things about Protomartyr, so I finally decided I mind as well get acquainted to them and the post-punk sound, and I will say, production on here is tight, layered, and expansive in its sound. Formal Growth in the Desert is a critique of modern life, in tandem with the mindless consumption of mass media, its apathy, and everything in-between.
This album is undoubtedly a somewhat nihilistic portrayal of the modern world, however it isn't always completely on the nose ... read more
I want to preface by stating I don't have a lot of exposure to Avenged Sevenfold. Growing up, I wasn't much into metal, however within the past year I've begun to appreciate the versatility and creativity metal can conjure. I don't like being negative on bands; We are all human, we make mistakes, and we all have at some point produced less than desirable work that we look back upon and ponder why we ever thought that was a good idea. However, there's a point where I have to be honest with ... read more
This album is a whiplash combination of Deftones + Dillinger Escape Plan + Shoegaze + Djent + A little bit of Ambience, and the good news is, I dig all of that.
Alternative Metal and Metalcore have been in a weird place in music for quite a while. Genre switching/mixing in the Alternative Metal scene has been met with very polarizing results (Evidenced by Sleep Token's Latest Release). I think however the influences of genres here work quite well, even if the Deftones' influence is a bit on ... read more
Lana Del Rey to me is quite a polarizing artist, with undoubtedly a very large fanbase that very strongly praises majority of work. There are a few songs from her previous albums I enjoyed, but I felt this album slogs in such an expansive, minimalist soundscape it ends up feeling too empty.
Many of these songs often feel like they drag much longer than their run time, and manage to out welcome their stay. Maybe I don't appreciate Lana's Discography enough to "get it" as people like ... read more
Anyway, Still is an album that is as raw as it is visceral, a piece engulfed in endless layering of rich chamber sound. This album rewards patience, with its strongest tracks 'In The Game' and 'In The Signal' that are as emotionally impact as they are beautiful. I have very little exposure to this quartet prior to this album's release, but I feel the time they have taken between albums shows the meticulous process and effort these artists put into the music as a whole.
Unlike many albums of ... read more
The fact Kate Bush was also the producer of this album is a testament to her creative fervor, and soaring strengths as an artist who I felt is finally getting the appreciation she deserves. Hounds of Love is definitively one of the best works to come out of the 1980s, and while it definitely has the distinctive soundscape that encompassed much of 80's music, Kate Bush was able to masterfully craft it into a record that still remains relevant in its sound today. It is art pop at its ... read more
From Collapsed in Sunbeams, Arlo Park's My Soft Machine feels like a step down. Don't get me wrong, there are some songs I really enjoy on this album, but it feels disconnected, and quite safe. The first half album is quite strong, but it feels that the Phoebe Bridgers feature on Pegasus is a really weak link in the album, and then the rest of it becomes quite weak.
While this album is inoffensive, it doesn't really do much to innovate the genre. While I'll definitely throw a couple of these ... read more
I wasn't expecting a revival of Disco in the 2020's, but here we are. I've heard a lot of praise about Jessie Ware's latest strings of album, and What's Your Pleasure ended up popping up on my Spotify Discovery list, so I assumed it was a sign I needed to review it.
Just about every song on this album is a banger. It's not only a homage to the foundations of Disco, but expands it, sounding refreshingly modern, while still retaining that iconic disco sound. The production is on point, with ... read more
TL;DR: I don't want this to serve as a discouraging review. I think however that this album is extremely unpolished, and a lot of work needs to be done in all aspects, from production, to lyricism, to the actual vocal performance itself. I do want to sincerely wish you the best of luck on your future endeavors. I decided to listen to Compulsion after as well. While that track does need a bit of work done to it as well, it's a much better step in the right direction, and hopefully you can grow ... read more
TL;DR: This album deserves so much more recognition! It's rich, vibrant, ethereal and completely envelops you into it. A must listen.
As a pretext, I only had a vague idea of who Susumu Hirasawa was going into this, nor have I ever actually invested myself into Berserk, so I went into this having no idea what anything of his sounded like. Scrolling through a ton of random user lists, I found this in DemaCalling96's "Albums that are Better Experienced at Night", and since it's like ... read more
Tasteful Art Pop that truly bends the conformities of modern-day music and challenges the status quo. Probably up there with Bjork tbh.

Sleep Token serves as an interesting cornerstone of the Metal Scene, exploding into Popularity with the emergence of The Summing and Chokehold early on in 2023. Albums like The Sundowning and This Place Will Become Your Tomb definitely have their great moments, but I felt the application fell a bit flat, especially in This Place Will Become Your Tomb.
I definitely feel this album has two extremes: You either love it, or hate it. With Sleep Token's willingness to switch genres (sometimes even ... read more
