While I did like this album, I was a little underwhelmed by it. I think part of the issue was that I simply had inaccurate expectations. I came to this album after reading a review where someone compared it to Femme Fatale by Mon Laferte (one of my favorite albums of all time). This album is very lush and beautiful. Unfortunately, most of the songs fall flat, feeling like empty suggestions of music.
The first two discs of this album are absolutely incredible, but it really takes a noise-dive in the Joyful Noise Version.
There are some really jaw-droppingly incredible moments in this album. But most of the songs simply fall flat. The growth from this album to This Music May Contain Hope is absurdly under-acknowledged. This definitely is not a bad album, but I will not be returning to it any time soon.
