This album chooses to avoid genre in favour of throwing shit at the wall and seeing what sticks. What’s great is that a majority sticks. But some ideas overtake others needlessly. Elephant bones is one of the greatest rock songs of the 2000s. And some buried amazing lyric writing and vocal delivery all across this album.

Disregarding the last two songs that have some fun moments but beat a motif to death this album is one of the best metal albums of all time.

Inspirational powerful and moving, Spirits shows that metalcore can be everything you need and (nothing) more.

Great ideas and lots of potential but unfortunately the few shining gems throughout this project are squashed by the overwhelming weight of derivative mediocrity.

Other than the standout hits that are quite good its other songs fall prey to stilted metaphors and poor lyrical cadence... AGAIN. An absolute master class in production can be found inside this album, crunchy audiophile fan service happening in every song. The team working behind this project were on their A game and it shows BUT just because the movie is edited well if it is written poorly, there is no saving it.

Oozing with atmosphere and banger riffs Gojira runs a tight ship for over an hour and that's just impressive.

Local legends Klokwise have all the makings of a hard-hitting nu-metal hardcore fusion act. Some unfortunate acts of derivative writing and soundscapes but nothing offensive. Strong riffs great vocals fun drops. Support local!

I'm in love with the feeling that this album evokes. Who else could make you listen to the entirety of a totally serious pop song and have a feeling of anxiety every time there's a switch in tempo or section. "will this explode?" "will poppy scream bloody murder?" no, it will be one of the better pop songs of the year. OOP now she's screaming again.

You can tell they're having the most fun in the studio with this one. Just some friends spitting some mean ass bars in the same room and it's infectious.

why is no one screaming to the fences about this thing? I should've been recommended this the moment it graced streaming services. I reserve 10’s for albums I’ve listened to at least 5 times and this album almost broke that rule. I will not be shutting up about this project for a good while. Lil Nas has a concerning ability to make me move my hips

I do not know when or how this ended up on my to listen to list but man am I happy it did. The songs are wrought with heartfelt emotion and a feeling of dread is palpable in every bar. Love hate and all that’s in between are heard loud and clear. A clean blend of metal and alt makes sure everything stays cohesive and fresh throughout.

Ok I’m unconvinced on this one, I’m the biggest defender of seeing red but this just seems rehashed and lacking in anything special past the vocal technique being great.

Some of the hardest rap lines and beats wrapped inside of a stellar R&B selection. if this album dropped a few of the boring run of the mill tracks it'd get an easy 100.

Great if not a little disjointed

Imma hit this one with a “good” not great not bad. Just some really solid and unique prog rock with a bunch of classic songs that you have to get to by wading through a bit of filler that goes fast enough.

Not life changing but definitely a step above the rest of the field. Everyone deserves their own Mr. Morale.

85 -> 90 as time passes the more I like this album, a full relisten is probably in order. This album acts as something that grows on you and you unlock more of its meaning and gravitas as it sits with you
