Kendrick Lamar - untitled unmastered.

Kendrick Lamar's *untitled unmastered.* is an album that I would rate a 94/100, placing it alongside *Section.80* in my personal ranking. What makes that score so impressive is the fact that *untitled unmastered.* was never intended to be a fully realized studio album. Instead, it is a compilation of unreleased tracks, demos, and leftovers from the *To Pimp a Butterfly* sessions. For most artists, a collection of scraps and unfinished material would feel disjointed or underdeveloped. For ... read more

Kendrick Lamar - GNX

Kendrick Lamar's *GNX* is, in my opinion, the weakest album in his discography. That may sound like harsh criticism, but I would still rate the album an 87/100, which speaks volumes about the standard Kendrick has established throughout his career. When compared to projects like *good kid, m.A.A.d city*, *To Pimp a Butterfly*, *Mr. Morale & The Big Steppers*, *Section.80*, and even *DAMN.*, I find *GNX* to be less ambitious and less impactful as a complete artistic statement. However, ... read more

Kendrick Lamar's *Section.80* is an album that I would rate a 94/100. While it is often overshadowed by the monumental success of *good kid, m.A.A.d city*, *To Pimp a Butterfly*, and Kendrick's later releases, I believe *Section.80* remains one of the most important projects in his discography. In my personal ranking, it sits just above *DAMN.*, largely because of its consistency, its hunger, and the way it captures a young Kendrick beginning to establish the themes that would define ... read more

Kendrick Lamar - DAMN.

Kendrick Lamar's *DAMN.* is an album that I would rate a 93/100. While that score would make it one of the best albums in many artists' discographies, I actually consider it Kendrick's second weakest studio album, only ranking above *GNX*. That says less about the quality of *DAMN.* and more about how incredible Kendrick's catalog is. Even though I rank it lower than albums such as *good kid, m.A.A.d city*, *To Pimp a Butterfly*, *Mr. Morale & The Big Steppers*, and ... read more

Playboi Carti - Whole Lotta Red

Playboi Carti’s Whole Lotta Red is my favorite album from his discography and one of the most influential hip-hop releases of the 2020s. While the album was initially divisive upon release, its impact on modern rap has become impossible to ignore. I would rate it an 86/100 because of how innovative, energetic, and unique it is. Rather than building on the sound of Die Lit, Carti completely reinvented himself, creating an album that pushed the boundaries of what mainstream hip-hop could ... read more
