PSYCHOTIC SEXUAL DRIVE
- that's what it reminds me of; or maybe audioization of rape.
It's a concept album, and it's a truly an immersive one. It has A LOT of ambient elements mixed with disturbing Pharmakon's vocals which are really haunting.
1. The mix of her voice is truly excellent. The squealing effect, which transforms her voice into a siren-like sound, really captures the atmosphere. The repetitive background noise, blending with the vocals, conjures up images of ... read more
KICK INSIDE B's
It feels like Kate wrote this album, but didnt have melodical concept to it... this album is a bag of anecdotes. It tells stories with musical accompaniment and wild Kate Bush vocals. Thanks to it, It gets a really fun aspect and make listening pretty fun, but it will never be enjoyable in the background because of how it is unfinished instrumentally. Because of this, the album sounds like The Kick Inside B version (made of the songs that didn't make it onto the debut ... read more
WILD SENSE
Kate Bush's debut is really something else.. IN A GOOD WAY.
19 year old Kate Bush shapes her distinct style from her career beginning. She foreshadows she is able to make music that is new, unique, and her own. There are glimpses of it in some of the songs which stand out from the rest. This album is kind of a success of few individual songs, in which other ones can't keep up with their greatness.
However, the mood which the album holds on to, make it a pretty ... read more
INDUSTRIAL RIDDLE
This album undoubtedly serves extremely high instrument qualities, but can you really find all that you want in this complex labirynth of sounds? Well the structure, elements of surprise, and anxiety heavy background are the biggest advantages of this album, but they also make it weaker in some moments, where I would love to hear something more magical. I started my Branca journey with his live pieces, and this is where he was able to show off his unique raw climaxes. I ... read more
MILKY WAY ROAD
Cocteau Twins serve an unique type of music, that everyone will definitely like. It reminds me of Slowdive's shoegaze a bit, just less blurred and more direct; a bit of Kate Bush's inspired vocals as well. Overall it has its own character, it's pretty ethereal and incredibly dancy. Energy is the main asset of this album.
1. Starting immediately with a hit! Jeez I liked this one. It reminded me of Slowdive's shoegaze style but a lot more dancing soul added to ... read more
LYING BORED ON A SOFA
The album is as comfortable as lying on a sofa, but slowly melting into that comfort, it eventually becomes dull and simply boring. Chill vibes amidst a lack of ideas. Some tracks, like "Lent," "Control," and "Hungover in the City of Dust," shine among those without their own identity.
1. Anniversary - starting with nice beat, hits pretty well then it turns out it's like Catfish and the Bottlemen but less ideas. Also the lyrics are ... read more
TALKING INSTRUMENTS
1. Track A kinda sounds like a conversation between the band members. They all understand eachother and thanks to that they serve some nuances in the melody.
2. Especially Track B's first part sounds outstanding. To create something so grand from such an ordinary melody is a marvel, demonstrating the artistry and understanding of music. Every instrument, every depth, matters.
3. Track C's strongest point seems to be the later section, where the ear-piercing, ... read more
HYMN OF THE SHATTERED HEART
1. Symphony begins its adventure with a complete void of sound, If you're wondering which piece would best capture the feeling of mourning, sadness, and crying in music, this one is a strong candidate. Its overwhelming composition develops like it was some post-rock track, adding and adding next layers, entering new pitch or surprising with other instruments. I like the structure - the song starts and ends in the same way. It makes the song way more ... read more
VISUALIZING A DISASTER
1. First part starting repetitively prepares us for haunting change that expands in time. Very satisfying and unexpected depth that reminded me of some kind of danger which was hard to describe back then.
2. Step outside of deadly ambient. Refreshing, enjoyable instrumentals which makes the piece memorable and catchy. The guitar in later part is making the development outstanding, quite beautiful, even intimate I would say.
3. Going even further by adding subtle ... read more
EFFECTIVE MINIMALISM
1. Fratres starts sharp and its one of the greatest classical sound ever composed. I swear it is so addicting I recommend trying that one to everyone.
2. Cantus Song enters a sombre sound created by grand, choral type of composition. The entire piece stands out for its spirituality.
3. Fratres for 12 cellos is another variation of this beautiful track. This time its quieter, and can be more intimate for some.
4. Tabula Rasa's length is quite a challenge considering ... read more
I respect the jazzy sound. It really makes it stand out from other post-rock alternatives. But the noisy compositions dont reach the level that they seem to foreshadow, so it ends up on good/okay level but nothing more. Gilotyna is a really pretty piece tho
EVERY DETAIL COUNTS
Their most poetic project so far. I always listen to it to feel every instrument hit, not just to enjoy the music. The purpose of listening to it is deeper - it feels like a soul source, creating harmless and sheltered feeling in my mind. My relationship with this album is complicated...

The opening track is a marvel, but the rest loses its aura, the glimmers of truly good music amidst the sound.
La La Land of 60s. Incredible vibes, a few catchy tracks that I sing non-stop. Definitely sounds like Justin Hurwitz's inspiration
for La La Land soundtrack. &>
Very good and impressive debut. The instrumentals hit so well that its either entertaining like in the first song, or horrifying like in the second one which even made my ears hurt for a bit. The compositions are impressive because of the quality, however the melodic ideas dont hit at all. As a little Glenn Branca fan I must say his real genius for me begins at Symphony No.1 live album from 1983.
This album feels like an inspiration for fishmans and therefore also for Parannoul. Some of their sounds in Bolero are very similar to Long Season's later guitar, or Into The Endless Night guitar. However, in this album I hear a resemblance to Pink Floyd's A Saucerful of Secrets album or King Crimson's Red album. Next song gives Aphex Twin vibes, and is very vivid which is a good addition to the album. Later part of the last song blows mind with its drums creating the beautiful ... read more
Truly a "Weird Sheep Music" album &>
Last Rushup 10, Rushup I Bank 12 or even Death Fuck and Synthacon 9 are all incredible.
It's a bit lacking my favorite Aphex Twin melodicism, however its still such a fun album to listen to. It surprises you with a lot of sound ideas, its sharpness and strength.
