rating this album is kind of a hardship for me. Twigs is one of my favorite artist at this point (the fact that I have given all her projects near perfect ratings). MAGDALENE has some of the most emotionally impactful breakup songs i have ever heard (sad day, home with you, cellophane). Twigs' vocal performance breaks new grounds for her and I'm very happy to see her growth and changes after years of hiatus. Mazy Fly is the most 70s sh**t i've ever heard in the 2010s. Yet it somehow breaks through the retro cliches and finds its own spirit.

despite the similarity to Arca's sound and style (especially the synth sound ), Jesse Kanda's Labyrinth somewhat lacks the structural and expressional variety and richness compared to Arca's projects. Labyrinth is like a compilation of slightly distorted lullabies without too much concern for further polish.
