I've listened this for over 10 times now and I still can't quite put my finger on why I don't like this album like his last one. It's maybe because Heaven and Earth despite having a very complicated structural design doesn't sound as epic as it suggests. And I personally prefer contemporary jazz music with more intimate, delicate, idiosyncratic even quirky traits.
... I don't know... I just didn't like this one. It sounds a little bit tiring.
I wouldn't call it a heavy weight release but it has the quality of a classic record. It's just quietly beautiful.
p.s. I love the movie Opening Night too! Everybody who loves Cassavetes is my friend.
