I’d like to give it a way higher rating honestly but mamacita kinda sticks out like a sore thumb in the sea of greatness that this album is. Everything besides it is damn near perfect. André’s silky smooth voice and big boi’s unique flows complement eachother excellently, and the beats always offer a funky mix of classic hip hop and a futuristic sound with a little bit of soul thrown in. Like something from haunted mound but the lyrics are the complete opposite of what you would find there. Heavenly beats and melodies, and the choice of samples are fantastic.
Love the first two songs, but the other noise tracks are kinda uninteresting, and of course there is the title track, which is quite repulsive honestly, and the way of presenting the subject matter, especially in the context of the rest of the album and the disgusting actions of Peter Sotos, feels in very poor taste. But overall, not bad.
Overhated as shit. Many genuinely incredible songs, some I even consider perfect. But, the second half is very odd, mostly comprising of really short weird little portions of songs. But, this feels like a very promising, albeit a bit incohesive, start to one of the greatest bands of all time. But I don’t know, I might just be a glazer. Favorite song is race car grin you ain’t no landmark, honestly one of my favorite mm songs, and I don’t even know why.
